Use the equaliser or pea

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DSP

A treble knob is probably a high shelf at something like 6kHz

Yes.  Use parametric equalizer or parametric equalizer2 in the DSP studio.  On the right side of the dialog, click the Add button and choose the type of filter you want to use, and then select the channel(s) you would like it applied to from the drop down Channels menu in the bottom third of the dialog.

Everybody hears differently.  Just experiment.  Any changes that you make are implemented instantly, so you will be able to evaluate what seems to be the right direction pretty quickly.

4 kilohertz =
4000 hertz

since jriver needs khz.... if treble starts at say 4khz, would 4000 hz be fine? if so what about other options?
