Cut and Paste works...

In MC, select all the tracks in the library and copy them to the clipboard.

Open Excel (I think that's what you meant right?) and paste.  Excel is smart enough to see the tabs between the fields in the data and put each database field in it's own column in the spreadsheet.   You can then manipulate the data any way you want.  Summarize, create reports, you can even graph your library by genre.

RemyJ:

Thanks for the pointer. Works perfectly. Now have a listing of my whole library bound into a single volume: file name; artist; album; duration; file type (so I know if a file is 128 and I want to upgrade quality)

A little heavy to carry around however - 18,500 files, about 500 pages.

I've got artist and album (about 1200) loaded in my phone!
