Is there MJ 8 in Linux Flavor?
« on: November 18, 2002, 06:25:47 am »

I'm thinking to install SuSe Linux in my laptop and I would like to have this grate program install on it. I know Music Jukebox has a linux flavor but I don't want to get another program if I already have the MJ that I like. ;D Is there a Linux Flavor for this grate program? :D

Thanks

Linux, whats that?

I see IBM jumped into Linux does that mean Linux is now doomed? OS2, And OS2 Warp went the way of The titanic Will Linux Be Next?

Or will it be a Night To Remember?" when it failes to win over the public and Computer makers.

If you go to a store how many boxes Say "Linux", "Mac" or "Windows"?

Linux Is doomed for failure...

It's just a matter of time

Baloney! If that comment is "off the cuff" then you need to roll your sleeve up.

It's a rising star. I run W2k now and will for a long time. But when support is no longer there then Linux is where I'm headed. The "killer app" will be MJ :D (so get on it JRiver).

I'll bet in a few years there will be a Linux version of MS Office. The only app category that's it's lacking (AFAIK) is a DB program as good as MS Access. IBM supporting Linux is a good thing!

I just want to try Linux 'cose is the only program that I can afford!! With win2k pro at $150.00 the only way that I can have a copy is for me to DL from P2P or a copy from my job. ;D

I friend installed on his Laptop and it looked very good so, I just want to play with it and see if I like it. And I’ll like it more if I have my favorite MP3 Player on it! :P

OK, lets get tough on this.  I'll bet a six pack of your favorite beverage (up to $30 value) that by January 1, 2005 there will not be a Linux version of Microsoft Office.  Winner to notify loser by email.

Its not a matter of whether Linux is better or not, that's irrelevant.  Its the most popular that wins these kinda of battles and Windows is looking stronger by the year from a consumer perspective.

So, do we have a bet? :)

If best won battles, Media Jukebox would be #1 today instead of tomorrow. :)

Oh boy...

A very ignorant comment. You have to look at what you're using the OS for. If you're after a "desktop" machine where you have to know basically nothing about how a computer works, then Windows (or Mac) will work great for you.
If you want to run a server that never ever crashes, then Linux works great.
You need to educate yourself a bit I think.

How uniformed some can be...you can run MSOffice on a linux destop today (not that it's actually a Linux version.)
see http://www.codeweavers.com/products/office/
I have cxoffice installed on my laptop (which is running RedHat) and have Office 2000 installed. It works flawlessly, and performance is very good. I have no complaints, however, I avoid M$ tools as much as I can.
To do real work, I use an "office" tool that is IMHO superior to M$Office
http://www.openoffice.org/
(it's even available for windoze)

For the home who likes to hear "you've got mail", windows will be fine. For the home user who has above average computer skills (or the ability to learn), nothing beats the stability of linux.

>So, do we have a bet?

I suppose, however, you lost even as you posted this message. :D

KingSparta's comment (linux is doomed) was a troll. He is not ignorant.

TimB's bet, if you read it, says "there will  be a linux version of MS OFfice", not that you can run MS Office on linux, but there is a version specifically for linux.

Please go a little lighter on the adjectives..
