MJ and the internet!
« on: December 02, 2002, 08:49:50 am »

Periodically when I am using MJ 8 and/or Media Server, my internet dialup window pops up and requests a connection. Not a big deal usually to cancel and things go on normally. However, I would like to get rid of this happening. Is there any command or reg key that can be set so that MJ and MS know that there is no internet function available so that they will not try to connect.
Thanks, Glen.

It may just be trying to update the start page.  Try letting it finish.  Then it won't do it for another week.

I think this maybe can be turned off on a registed versions by going to options, startup settings, then in the actions box there is an option.

From the help file

ACTION

Check for updates every X day(s). When selected, Media Jukebox checkd on the internet for updates of the program and plug-ins. You can specify an alternative number of days between checks. This only works if you are connected to the internet when the program is started.

Thanks Jim, for the reply. However, that's not what I am trying to do. I do not want it to try dialing no matter what. I can live with an old start page etc. Now that all my media is on the system, I want  MJ to function only as a player/server. I do not want any outside access (other than my own network).
Thanks, Glen.

Will i don't know if that has anything to do with the start page or not like jimH said it might be.

I talked to jimh about this before (maybe 1 year+ ago) but he is very, very old and set in his ways.

Kind of like an Old Dog.
