Why can I not keep a local Playlist?
« on: May 23, 2004, 06:32:48 am »

Hi to all you MediaCenter users.
I have poste this question earlier, but so far I had no response.
So i try again, but maybe ask in a different way.

I have set up a server. And everybody in the house can use it.
But when they create a Playlist, based on the server, then the playlist
is gone when they close Mediacenter.
Any Playlist created on the Server PC will remain though.

Is that so, or are there something i have overseen?

Sorry, but that's the way it is.  The database that Media Server shares is read only.  To make it read-write is a lot of work because records have to be locked so two users can't write at the same time.  We may do this sometime.

Hi Jim,

That will mean that the Playlists are saved in the Database and not as single "files".
But what if the Playlist was not saved in the Database? Would that be an idea?
The reason is off course that I do not want my kids to have access to the server in order to permantly create and save their favorites, which will then be visible for all.
Off course you might run into the problem that the Link could dissappear when the Server status change, but that would only happen when music are added.
