Help me test please (TiVo in MC11)
« on: June 29, 2005, 04:24:04 pm »

Hi TiVo Users,

I need some helping testing the MC11 TiVo server

Turn on the TiVo Beacon (if you have it installed)
1) Start the Media Center TiVo Server.
2) Press the TiVo button on the remote
3) Select the Music portion of the library
Repeat steps 2 & 3 several more times.

Does it work every time? Does it fail occasionally?

If you have the TiVo Desktop installed, shutdown Media Center's TiVo server and start up the TiVo Server. Repeat the above steps and let me know if it works or not.

Thanks very much - I am tracking a weird behavior that may be hardware related...

I've been having lots of problems recently with the MC11 TiVo server. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The behavior is very erratic, and VERY annoying. It all seemed to start happening when I set up WMA encryption on my WiFi. The TiVo box itself is plugged directly into the hub/router, but the MC11 PC is using a WiFi card.

I'm not sure if this is related to what's happening to you.

Are you only having problems connecting? That is, once you are connected, you can browse music or pictures without problem? Can you turn off the encryption to see if that removes the problem?

Once I'm connected it works fairly well, but I'll still often run into errors browsing. I don't recall the error number, but I'll write it down the next time. I'll try turning off WMA tonight.
