Failed to restore license
« on: July 18, 2005, 12:01:29 pm »

I plugged in my reg. code to restore my license, and I keep getting, a "failed to restore license" window, with no explanation.  I quadruple checked the 30 digit reg #, even requested it from JRiver to make sure it was correct - still no luck.

Did you find the FAQ here?

www.jrmediacenter.com/purchase.html

Make sure you have a current version.  Provide details on what you have.  Copy your system info from MJ Help and paste it here.

Did you try a restore from the web page?

OK, here's the reg. 3 from help.  This is confusing, since JRiver just reconfirmed my reg. code via email.  I did try to restore via the web site with the same (failed) results. Thanks for helping out!

I just e-mailed you your registration code again.  I tried it first and it works.

If you still have problems, here are some other possibilities:

You may have something like a virus checker or firewall causing problems.

Make sure you're using IE.

Copy and paste the registration code from the e-mail to the restore page.

Try reading the FAQ carefully again.

OK, I followed your instructions, placed IE security on low, disabled Norton. no other firewalls. no  pop-up blockers, still got "failed' window.  Clicking on FAQ in restore window results in, "This page cannot be displayed".  Should I pay the $14, see what happens, if that works, arrange for a credit?   Thanks

I wonder if this problem is the same one you're having.  I found it by reading old posts here.

clock is current.  i checked the link you pasted.  i went into the jriver program files, but couldn't figure out how to reinstall the program (package installer - nothing happens). to reinstall, it appears that i need the reg code, so i'm back where i started.

You don't need a registration code to re-install.

Try downloading the latest build again and reinstall it.  Make sure you're logged in as a user with admin rights.  Here's the link:

Try uninstalling, rebooting, and re-installing.

Make sure you have logged in as the correct user.

In control panel, double check the users you have.

I know it may seem like you're going backward, but I think you're getting close to finding what the problem is.
