I started this post before I saw yor original thread Alex . . apologies. Seems we want the same thing.
I thought I had worked it out when i saw the option to add the 'Names' field as a pane, however this just gives me ALL the tracks in the current view with a highlighted tickbox for the current album.
Cover art is how I intuitively 'recognise' my music. I have been looking at CD covers for the last 20 years, and vinyl covers for the 10 years before that. Anyone who has spent more than 5 minutes in a record store will know the feeling of fanning rapidly through racks of CDs. 1,000s of covers are burned into my memory. A text list is soul-less and might as well be an exel sheet.
IMHO a toggle is NOT acceptable. The ability to display album thumbnails is the single and most brilliant feature that attracts me to MC over iTunes. To have to turn the thumbnails OFF and revert to a list view (Ctrl + U) in order to see the tracks and create a playlist from any particular album, is madness beyond my comprehension! MC has a plethora of subtle and advanced functionality, 99% of which I will never use.
I will immediately purchase the first application to give me a page full of thumbnails of my cover art, and a simple tracklist of the currently highlighted thumbnail beside, above or below. I am watching MC, MediaMonkey and iTunes with great interest. The first ones to crack this simple issue will totally dominate the market.
