There are numerous threads on the difficulties of getting directshow filter support for audio and video playback working in MC.  In fairness to jriver, directshow filter chain and graph debugging in Windows is a true horror show and not particular to MC.

However, most other apps that use directshow filters have config screens that allow end users to select from the various audio and video filters installed.  MC depends on the windows built in merit system which is fraught with error and makes debugging a real problem for end users of MC.

The MC forums here are filled with people and MC authors trying to debug end user directshow problems that are largely configuration issues complicated by the reality that end users can not control what filters are loaded to support MC audio and video file playback.

Make directshow filter and renderer an end user selectable option!
