MyGal notification failure
« on: February 07, 2007, 09:47:29 am »

I'm having some troubles with MyGal...I'm a dial up user, fwiw.

When I upload a gallery, while waiting with the "uploading" dialog, when I click on a menu on the menu bar, it pops up and disappears right away.  Not sure what the intended behavior is.

After the upload, I receive a msg that info about my gallery has been sent in an email, but no email arrives.

Also, I have option checked to "show gallery in Browser" and it doesn't do this (I'm using FF as my default browser right now)

I don't see a delete option on the Gallery Creation dialog

HTH,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Check your spam filters for the e-mail.  It is going out.  Your ISP could also be blocking it.

The option to show in browser doesn't work now and probably will be removed.

There should be a MyGal Album Maintenance button next to the MyGal stuff.

We replaced the open in browser for MyGal with the email.  That option will probably be moved to the ftp upload section.

You've double checked your email and you've checked your junk filters?  The email will be from MyGal at musicex dot com.

This is pretty new so the service tends to pop up and down and there were some issues yesterday.

I found the delete button, it was disabled until I clicked another radio button and then clicked the MyGal radio button again, then the button enabled.

I check my blocked sender list and musicex dot com is not there.

I also check the spam logs for today and I didn't see any msgs from MyGal.  I'll try some more attempts this afternoon.

Curious, if you don't choose the option for the email and the "show in browser" won't be available, how do you get the URL for your galleries?

It will be completely based on e-mail.  It's still a work in progress.

Roger.

Are you guys gonna keep the single dialog interface?  If so, how 'bout a couple of suggestions?

- Bring the listbox from the the "maintenance" dialog onto the first dialog and add the url as another column to the list

- Add a coupla buttons, Delete, Open in Browser, Overwrite? (there might be a better way to do this)

- Make the option for a local copy a checkbox instead of radio button

I think we're going to split into two different dialogs.  One simple just for mygal, the other one advanced.  Just my two cents.

Could your ISP's filters be the problem?

What build of MC are you using?

I just tested with build 179.  E-mail is working.

Subject: Your MyGal Gallery Information
From: "MyGal Gallery Admin" <MyGal@musicex.com>

Note that "Subject" and "From" will probably change soon.

I just tried again with .179, no joy.  But now I'm wondering what email address MyGal has for me.  Is there anyway to find that out?

Try this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 12\Properties\HTML Gallery Upload - Email

Okay, when the box pops up asking for email, mine was defaulted to my registration ID, and I was just clicking on thru, so that was the problem.  The reg entry also had the registration ID value rather than the email address.

Couple of other things...

The two data fields in the AW box for MyGal don't take and the TAB key is not working there.

There are a handful of other things I've noticed, and while I like where you're going with this, it's obviously raw.  Would you rather we wait until the next build for MyGal reports?

Check the registry key to make sure your e-mail is correct.

[Edit -- there may be a problem with addresses outside jriver.com -- we'll check this tomorrow. ]

I check the outbound email server logs and there are no failures in the list few days for either hotmail or gmail. Please PM me with the email address you are using if you are having trouble getting gallery email.

Yes, I've recieved them in the Junk mail. But only the test mails and no mails from MyGal I've created.

I don´t understand this. Do you get my gallery images...maybe something blocks the submission.

Do you have a way to add musicex.com and jriver.com to a "white list" at hotmail?

Yes I've it already done. I'm not sure what´s the problem maybe because I'm using Live Mail beta.It s a "newer" version of hotmail.

I did a rollback to hotmail.

The email isn't getting sent because your user isn't getting added to the database for some reason. What MC version are you using? I've added more logging to the server. Please try again and let me know the UC time when you tried...

I'm using 179 so the latest public build. I tried it with hotmail, etc. My firewall was down and I've no router. I don´t understand this.

We're having some problems with the entries into the database.  Should be cured in a day or two.

There is a timeout problem with large galleries > 6 megs or so. Try a small one and let me know if it works.

No it doesn´t but the size can´t be a problem. I always test the gallery with 4 example images of windows xp and 3 coverart images.
All together have a size around 0.75 mb.
