I finally talked my brother into using Media Center. He has always had digital photos but never organized them plus he now has an MP3 phone so he's getting into that. Here's an email he sent me:

Now that I have this, I am totally confused on how I’m supposed to use it.  Specifically, I want to organize my pictures.  I had it search for pictures under My images and it came up with 2300 something.  It then started to do like a slide show automatically for some reason.  What am I supposed to do?  I see that pictures you sent me had keywords.  I’m not sure how to add those.  What does the Play Tag Menu mean when I click on the pictures.  I need a little starter course.  What’s the purpose of a playlist or library.  I seem to see them all over.

I gave him the best answers I could plus referred him to the Wiki and the forum, but couldn't find anything that talked about an introduction to how to use Media Center. Media Center can do so much but there must be something for beginners to learn so they can advance as necessary. And he is not a computer novice. Is there an introduction somewhere to MC?

I like this idea, I just don't know how to do it.
Ideally, new users who find their way here could add it to the wiki...

Perhaps an easy way would be what was discussed months ago about video training. Someone could take MC from a fresh install and show different settings, how to set certain things up, import files, play them, etc. Just the beginning type of stuff. If the user doesn't get scared away from the abundance of features available, then they'll stick around and learn more on their own.

Has anybody by chance done anything in this area? My brother called me last night saying he wanted to burn an audio CD but couldn't get Roxio to work. I told him to just use MC since he already bought it. Since this original topic, he still has never imported any songs. He couldn't understand why it would take two steps (import and then burn), rather than just burn from the folder itself like Roxio. I tried to explain that Roxio is the same way as you still have to tell it the files to burn.

I was going to try and talk him over the phone on how to get MC to import songs and then burn a CD but it was late and he was frustrated. He lives out of state but I will be seeing him at Christmas so I can show him in person but if somebody has done some type of instruction already, I can send that to him in advance.

Sounds great. Totally agree. I belive the best introduction would be with small how-to video clips.
A hiararcy of the most used features in video form would help alot of users. New users as well as more experienced users.
I was planning on making a few my self one day, but have had way to much to do lately.
