Link for upgrading MC 11 to MC12?
« on: March 10, 2007, 12:13:38 pm »

I want to upgrade from MC11 to MC12. Various links bring me to a purchase page for first time users at $40, but not a specific page for upgrading MC 11 users for the stated $19? Please advise, thanks.

I read the link. So I need to have MC11 and MC12 running on every PC in order to upgrade?? I deleted MC11 on all my computers during the MC12 trial period. Plus I've installed two new PCs with MC12 exclusively. Why can't I just use my MC11 license key to activate the MC12 upgrade at $19? Please advise, thanks.

You just need an older version installed when you purchase.  After that, you can remove it.  The new license is a full MC12 license.

So what do I do when I've already removed MC11 and want to upgrade to MC12 for the $19 fee??

Install MC11 and use your Registration Code to Restore.

MC11.1.201 is here:  ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/old/MediaCenter111201.exe

Info on restoring is here:

Don't forget to SAVE the key. You can then copy it to the other machines and just install MC12 (and restore from file). Use the same key for all the machines. Otherwise you'll end up using multiple restores.

Actually, If you used MC11's unistaller it didn't remove your MC11 registration. The uninstaller removes everything else, but not the registration code. In that case MC12 should give the upgrade price automatically when the purchase process is started from the buy button inside MC (e.g. from the first splash screen).

If you used a registry cleaner tool then the old registration is not available when MC12 checks for that code.

As said, you can use the new key for registering the other PCs, so only one of the PCs must have a valid MC11 registration code installed (not necessarily the complete MC11 program).

Reinstalled MC11, which seemed to validate upgrade to MC12 for the $19 fee. Then it was a matter of manually entering the furnished MC12 license to my other PCs running trial versions of MC12. It occured to me during this round-about-process that a much more effecient process would simply allow previous customers to upgrade from a special area of your website by entering a prior install key. Thanks for your help and all working now.
