I'm also having major crashing issues with my ipod 30gig. Straight after a clean install MC12 will import my library happily enough but as soon as I plug in my ipod MC crashes. This has happened since .185 and frankly is a pain. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times and each time the problem replicates itself. I thought trying the latest .189 might solve this issue but it hasn't. Interestingly I have cleaned the registry and tried to go back to .164 which seemed fine for me but that now crashes continuously too.

I did manage to get a log file but not sure where to send as its quite long to paste here. Any advice please?

Try using MC Options for Handhelds to "Redetect Devices".

JimH - this didn't work as MC crashed straight away BUT thanks to your post elsewhere in 'handhelds'

Then, if you can see the iPod in Explorer, find the itunes.db file and rename it itunes.tmp.  It may be corrupt.

I was able to initialize the ipod staight away and it now works with MC. Of course this might be a temporary fix but I am grateful nonetheless for your help. Although its a pain losing music off the ipod its good to get it working.

Cheers

Can you be specific about what you did?  Rename itunes.db?
