"Power User Privileges"
« on: September 20, 2007, 04:04:19 pm »

Have used MC12 before as trial for 30 days, which expired.
Best program of all media players.
BUT
Bought today, installed, error message: must be run once with Power User privileges.
So, ran as admin, but it did not register with prog., & now can only
run as administrator without multiple identical error msgs
(Setup cannot create CDWriter.ocx.)
OCS is Windows Vista Premium.
Anybody have a solution?
Thanks!

Did you get MC from our download page?  If not, please do.

Reboot before installing.

Install as an administrator if necessary.

Yes, got it from the j river download page.  Just did everything you suggested in the way you suggested, but
the problem persists...any other ideas?
Thanks again

All right, now I've tried the suggestions again.  Eliminated all Media center stuff from the computer, including library files, & including some left-over MC11 library files, rebooted, then installed MC12 from this page's link, running as administrator.
So, I click the quick launch link, & Vista control says that  "C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\PackageInstaller.exe"/RegDLL C: Program Files\J River\Media CEnter 12\CDWriter.ocx," wants access to my computer, which I ok, & then I still get the same two part message, which repeats once after I get through it the first time.  First, a box reading literally:

This version of Media Center must be activated by running it at least once with Power User privileges.
After this activation, Media Center can be run with only guest privileges
(Unactivated Component: C:\\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\CDWriter.ocx)

Once I click on this one, I get the following error box:

Failed to create CD writer control (CDWriter.ocx)

Click the OK on this one, & the whole thing repeats once more from the account control request.

Any more ideas?

Thanks.

Hi--

Still having the problem listed above in my many missives (to myself, at this point?).

Latest attempt: uninstalled, wiped all JRiver registry entries with regedit, reinstalled.  Program asked me for my key, which I provided (9 left now out of 10), still same problem.

Program runs in Admin mode well enough, except it will not burn DVD, only CD.

What gives?  Anybody?
