Build 447 is not a safe build and should be updated immediately to 450 or newer.

Right click could select all without displaying the selection correctly.  More information is here:

The same is true for the previous public build, 12.0.438. (Check my post here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=45325.msg311051#msg311051)

Apparently this bug was hiding for quite a while before it struck.

You may want to edit the subject and your post to include 438.

Thanks.

that's why on the central archive, you always set the read-only bit as a belts-and-suspenders for accidential deletes....

So is the problem is specific to JUST those two builds -- 438 and 447 -- or does it effect builds in between those builds as well?  I just discovered that I can't sync my 5th gen iPod with 450, so I reverted to 439 since this was the last build I synced with (which is working to sync.)  Is 439 safe?  What about other builds between 439 and 450 OTHER than 447?

Thanks,

Larry

Larry,

The discovered problem is only related to right-click selections in pane listings on the top part of view schemes that are in the Pane mode. A single right-click didn't always actually change the selection. If the user had the first "all" item selected (it is by default) it was possible that an immediate "Delete" in the right-click menu really deleted all files. The number of files to be deleted was correctly displayed in the confirmation box, but as said, sometimes the hand is quicker than the eye.

Since most users probably do a left-click selection first and generally don't delete items directly from the panes this potentially dangerous behavior wasn't noticed before.

The problem was present in all builds starting from 12.0.438 at least. Possibly even in older builds, but that has not been verified. 438 has been available for quite a while and supposedly the users who follow this forum already have 438 or 447 installed.

The unpublished intermediate beta builds have the same problem.

It's probably everything between 438 and 447, maybe others.  Be very cautious about deletions.  Check how many files MC says you're deleting.

Does MJ 12.0.32 also have these problems?

(I've upgraded my home MC systems to MC .450, but I have another system running MJ.)

Media Jukebox 12.0.034 and Media Center 12.0.451 are good.  Both are now on the boards here.
