Where is EPG heading?
« on: August 24, 2008, 06:27:34 am »

I was originally going to make this a wish list thread for EPG/Scheduling, but thought I should ask first where J River actually sees EPG support going.

Are you looking at implementing just basic EPG support or are you looking towards fully featured EPG/scheduling?

At the moment I'm very happy with my EPG system and using MC as the playback engine (and would be even happier if MC playback supported comskip) , but would like to have it all intregrated into one system for consistancy if that's where it's heading.

But to do this obviously requires a lot of work from where MC is now in this area, and I'm not sure if this is really a focus of development right now, and if it's not that's fine but I'll hold off wish lists and feature requests until a better time  :)

Cheers
Richard

I'm not sure how much time we'll devote to it, but it would help if you could make a brief list of what you regard as essential features.

This area has been a problem for us because the sources we know about have either been expensive or illegal.  That may be changing.

We may take a look at support for XMLTV.

If you want, you could add it to my (still unfinished) thread on the subject: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47875.0

I think they're different subjects, glynor.  I'd rather keep the EPG comments in one place.

K.  Most of my comments on the TV support are related to EPG, but that's fine.

Maybe I was misled by the subject.

There had been no response to Glynor from J River hence the reason I started this tread asking the question.

I'll add my EPG comments to that thread in that case...

Please either use this thread or start a new one.  Glynor's subject is overly broad for your purpose.
