Works with Motorola DROID
« on: November 06, 2009, 08:15:32 pm »

Not that I was worried, but I thought I would confirm that MC14 works fine with the Motorola DROID phone.

The micro SD card shows up as a drive letter, and MC14 detects it as a 'handheld device'. Syncs just fine.

One thing I did find confusing was figuring out the syntax for the 'supported types' setting in the handheld device options. The help file doesn't really say what it is expecting here; comma separated list, space separated, etc. I also found that those file type filters APPEAR to be case sensitive as even though I had "MP3" in the list, it re-converted a bunch of files with extension "mp3". I went back and added "mp3" to the list, too, and next time it didn't convert them. Case sensitive?

Thanks for the report.

We'll take a look at the case sensitive part, because there's no good reason for it to care about case.

Any comment on what the format should be? :) I think I have it working (comma separated) but I'm curious as to the official answer as it isn't in the documentation.

Like:
MP3, OGG, WMA

Or:
MP3; OGG; WMA

Or:
*.MP3, *.OGG, *.WMA

etc.

Semicolons, I believe.

Take a look at this file:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 14\Data\Default Resources\PDT.xml

You could modify it and put it here:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 14\Data\Custom Resources\PDT.xml

Then MC won't overwrite it on installation.

If you get something you like, please share it here.

If you find an app that lets you rate tracks on the droid let me know.
So far I've come up with nothing.

Another droid user that is happy to have sync working but would love to capture playback data so skip and play counts would be updated upon sync.

I was able to sync my Droid rather easily with MC but I noticed that the MP3 files went to the SD card in a MUSIC folder but the playlists don't show up on the Droid's playlist. Is there a trick?

Getting the playlists to show up on the droid has always worked for me.
The trouble I've had is the old playlist not getting deleted.
If I sync 3 times, I end up with the same playlist name, with different content in each, showing up 3 times on the droid's music player.
Now I just remember to delete the playlist on the droid prior to syncing.

When your droid is displayed in MC under drives and devices, is it showing up as a drive letter or does it say Motorola A855?
