Is there a mobile version of JRiver Media Center?  A simple mobile version of JRiver Media Center, with the basic features??

Why? Because...

• I want my music to be mobile.
• ...and I want to be able to filter my music and play it on my phone (like I do in JRiver Media Center).
• ...if it's not too much to ask, I also want to be able to rate/tag songs while I am on the go and have these changes update on my PC when I sync with the JRiver Mobile Version.  Keep in mind that I wouldn't be able to have all my songs on my phone at the same time (not enough GB).

If there is not a version of JRiver for mobile phones, then I request it... JRiver Media Center Mobile!?
Please don't recommend that I get a portable music player.... none of them can filter my music based on my tags set in JRiver Media Center!

While that would be sweet (and I don't think an Android version is out of the question), there isn't anything yet.

However, with an Internet connection and the new WebPlay feature of MC15, you don't really need a player for your mobile.  Check it out, if you haven't yet.

I've tried reading all the related threads but I can't find an answer... can someone help?

I recently bought an IPhone and downloaded a brilliant app for remotly controlling VLC however I'd rather use MC. Iknow you can buy a remote but I was wondering if there was anyway I could use my iphone to control MC in the same way I can with VLC?

Surely someone could develop an app for that

You don't need an app.  You just do it through the web browser on your phone.

1. Make sure you have the current build of MC15 (above).
2. Go to Tools -> Options -> Network and check the "Share" checkbox under the Library Server part of the dialog.
3. Take note of the TCP Port listed in the dialog.  You can change this if you want.  If you want to be able to access your library from outside your LAN, you will need to forward that port on your router.  If your iPhone is on the same wireless network as the computer, then you shouldn't have to worry about this (though you may need to open the same port in the Windows Firewall).
4. If you don't know what it is, figure out what the internal IP address of your computer is on your LAN.  Open a command prompt window and type "ipconfig" to find out.
5. In your web browser on your phone, open this web page: http://<MY_MC_COMPUTER_ADDRESS_HERE>:<TCP_PORT_HERE>

Assuming you don't have a firewall blocking the connection, this will open the web page being served by MC, which will give you the options to use WebRemote or WebPlay (or MCWS, which you don't need).

WebRemote: Allows you to control a running instance of MC15 with a web browser.  Allows you to navigate your library, start and stop files playing, pause, control volume, navigate playlists, and all sorts of other wonderful things.  It works QUITE well currently.

WebPlay: Basically the opposite.  You can connect to your MC library and browse it on your phone and actually play the files on the device itself (rather than on the remote computer).  This feature is still brand new and is much more "beta" quality.  Works best with MP3 files.

Each of these navigation methods can have their own set of view schemes defined, just like you do for Theater View.  These schemes are defined in that same Options -> Network dialog.

thanks for your help folks, I've been "somewhat" successful but not there yet.

I've folloed the instructions to the letter and now I have a media server on my network

When I click on that link (from my pc) the web page opens and I can select/play the files.

When I try and connect to the same link from my iphone it tells me it cannot connect to the server?

Also in the options<network I've left the port to the default 52199 (should I change this to 52100)? - tried that, didn't work

I also tried typing in http://webremote.jriver.com/<access code> on my iphone browser but my iphone couldn't access the server

To make things even more complicated, I have a Linksys WRT54GR router and it doesn't accept the default username (blank)/password (admin)

How you I access the easy access option that enables jriver to access my server?

The port must be the same on both sides.

If you can connect locally (same machine) but not over the network, it is probably a network or firewall issue.  The port must be open from one device to the other.

I'm not sure, but I think the default for the router might be reversed from what you tried.

Jim, thanks I now have access to my router, any idea what I need to do to configure it to allow access from my iphone?

If your server is set to 52199, then try this from the client:

http://***.***.*.***:52199/

What happens?

My server is set to 52100

i tried setting the MC TCP port to 52100 (to match the server on my network) but got a message saying library server failed to start please check it's not already in use

I cant see an option on how to change my generic DNLA server port, so that is still set
at http://***.***.*.***:52100/webremote

DLNA and Library Server share the same port now.

Maybe you're using an older version.  Try 15.0.35 from the top of this board.

If you still can't get it after updating your build, maybe post a screenshot of the Options -> Network page to make sure it is clear where you have it set.

It's case sensitive, but try this instead:

http://192.168.1.100:52100

If that won't work, move to 52199.

Double check your IP address (Windows CMD, then type ipconfig).

Confirm the version of MC15 you're using.  15.0.35 is at the top of this board.

If I try ASX it starts Mediaplayer, but cannot play the stream. It seams it thinks it is an iPhone because it says something like conversion profile=iPhone. Format is of course not native MP3, but ape.
Any hints on how to get this up and running ?

Try an MP3, just as a test.

Dear all

When my IPhone connects to the Library Server, the audio files (in .wav lossless format) will be all automatically converted to MP3 files playing in the Safari/Quicktime. May I know how to config (in MC? or in IPhone?) so that there is no encoding process and I can enjoy the lossless files?

I did the following config currently in MC15:
Network --> Library Server Client --> Conversion:Don't convert audio & Encoder: Uncompresed stream
