Hi,

Anyone experience with following issue...?

I have just moved my music to a NAS (QNAP TS-219P+ Turbo NAS):
- NAS is setup as UPnP Server (QNAP ships with TwonkyMedia Server)
- MC (15.0.167) is setup as explained in Wiki: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DLNA#Setup_Instructions
- I mapped the NAS also to drive letter, and can connect to it

What I now get is very long filenames and filename paths in the Tag view:
- Where the drive is something like M\Public\Music\Artist\Album\Name
- I now get this: http://192.168.1.10:9000/disk/DLNA-PNMP3-OP01-FLAGS01700000/music/O0$1$7I4527/Violin%20and%20Oboe%20in%20C%20Mino.mp3
- and strangely enough, the value "O 0$1$7I4527" changes slightly for each file in the same folder
- and when I right-click on file and select "Locate on Disk", I get message that file does not exist...

Anyone any idea what's happening, and how to clean this?
Not sure if it is Windows Vista (and the drive letter mapping),MC, or the QNAP doing this....

I did the import, and the file path is now the expected "M:\Music\Artist\Album\Name.mp3
However, I now can't play any files anymore: "MC was unable too play any of the files" is the message I get when selecting file...
Note I point to local Library, where previously I pointed to DLNA Library on NAS... Not sure this is the issue...?

You have misunderstood how the DLNA servers work. They do not provide access to the media files through standard Windows file shares. They provide HTTP addresses. The "http://192.168.1.10:9000/disk/DLNA-PNMP3-OP01-FLAGS01700000/music/O0$1$7I4527/Violin%20and%20Oboe%20in%20C%20Mino.mp3" string is provided by your DLNA server. MC didn't generate it. MC streams the played file from that address.

For example,

Here is a file address from a DLNA server on my LAN:
http://192.168.0.12:56923/content/b77aaf58b8a0c76a51039876e28103bb.mp3

Here is an address from JRiver Media Center DLNA server on another PC:
http://192.168.0.10:52100/Music/F403.1022.mp3


DLNA is quite limited. You can see only the file info that is provided by the server and you cannot save any changes back to the server. To have full access to the media files it is better do what Jim suggested - import the files directly from the network share. I.e. from the path that is accessible in Windows Explorer.

Can you access the files through Windows Explorer? Can you play the files if you drag and drop them directly from Windows Explorer to Playing Now in MC? (just a few as a test)

It's DLNA ... not DNLA.

Hi MC team,
Apologies - turns out this was not a MC issue (although I didn't immediately blame MC ;-))

I disovered that for some reason the NAS just dissapeared off the network - even though it was running. I reset the router, assuming that the issue miight be there.... and yes - all works now as expected.

Thanks for the info on DLNA (or is it DNLA?)... I am indeed new in this area. Buying the NAS was my first step; buying a high-end hifi streamer is the next; where I willl use MC from my work station to edit/maintain the library. What isn't clear to me yet is how/where to best setup storage of tags (in Library) - to ensure this metadata can be discovered by DLNA devises (such as a Linn or Naim Audio streamer). Now MC points to Library on my work station, but obviously that is not the right location for the Library. Should I perhaps copy it, and move also to the NAS....?

I will check the Wiki first re the Library location/setup, as I'm launching a new discussion, where thhis discussion is closed. Thanks for prompt responses!
