Curious what you guys suggest for the best way to use my new touch screen tablet as a Remote for my htpc? is there something similiar to gizmo's theater control for windows? or is remote desktop only available option?

Thanks

windows 7,  but it has a bunch of touch addons from Microsoft\and Fujitsu.

Also being this is a new device, do i need to buy a new jriver license for this tablet?

Thanks

And one more question - i'm thinking about\have been asked from people locally if i would build them HTPC's. How do you guys suggest i go about doing this for license purposes? Can i buy these licenses in bulk? or do you suggest i setup these machines for them and have them buy the licenses from you individually, then i tweak it to there liking?

xta - I'm very very interested to see what you think of the WinTable (that is what I "think" I want).  You should be able to run the full version of MC on it to control another instance via LS.  How does the touch screen stuff go with MC?

LS = library server.
Now with zones, it's easy to run a full version of MC on two machines and control what is played where by either one.

This is how I do it:
I use 1 library for all machines and on my tablet I just open MC and then select the zone for the respective computer I want to control and it is as if I am sitting in front of that computer.

The first time I used my tablet I went to file-->library-->connect to library-->and used the search button, now it automatically connects to the library.

Scolex,
Thanx for reply :)

Loving the tablet.. so far but thinking i'm screwed again!

so i connected i can see main server machine, HTPC and the new tablet in playing now (see meaning just the name - all info in playing now on that device that is loaded is not being seen)

i went to playing now in standard view
chose HTPC then went to theaterview and chose playing now... EMPTY!
(it's not empty cause im watching a tv series on it as i type)

I hit pause - it paused
I hit next - it went to next episode
I hit stop - HTPC stopped
I hit vol - it goes up or down
If i goto ANYWHERE but playing now THEN ALL IMAGES\INFO show up on tablet - BUT still no images or info in playing now

No matter what i do, playing now always remains empty - NONE OF MY PC'S WILL SHOW ME WHAT IS PLAYING IN PLAYING NOW ON A DIFFRENT PC (No album art and no info of what's next\previous, or what is playing now)

Scolex\JRiver\Anyone Is This due to my other issue thats still lingering.... http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=61666.msg414433#msg414433

Thanks

also correct me if im wrong, if im on tablet and told it connect to htpc under playing now.. then in display view if something is playing on that other source... shouldnt i see that video on the tablet playing as well?

i think something is wrong with my display view(playing now) settings on all machines.

I don't know about video but if listening to music you should see the album art.
Curious, if you access the server through web remote on your tablet do you see album art?

yes that works

ive ran another test, if i start any files off tablet for the htpc, then the playing now info shows.

so jriver must not allow for seeing items in playing now in other zones UNLESS, that device itself starts the playing now in that zone.

It doesn't matter if I start the file from my tablet/laptop/phone/or whatever I still see the album art. If I have a visualization or video running I still just see album art.

no i dont need to use the scroll bar. The second i touch the screen in theaterview and move my finger up or down it just starts screaming. i can't just move up or down slowly if i keep my finger on the screen.

this doesnt happen in standard view or with and other programs on my machine only in theaterview (there is no control when scrolling down.)

What about if in standard view and List Style "Thumbnails".
I am just wondering if it has something to do with the larger rows in Theater view.

I switched to thumbnails in standard view, scrolling only works if you use the scrollbar, but when using the scrollbar in standard view, it scrolls PERFECTLY.  so there must be something going on in theaterview when i put my finger on screen and try to (move down slowly) scroll

basically using a tablet as a remote so far. isnt looking good at all.

I don't know what is going on I never have any trouble like that.
How good is your wireless signal strength? Just wondering if the signal
is degraded enough to cause corruption. Maybe nothing to do with it
just trying to come up with logical reasons.
