Trying to improve on the controlling of MC and peripherals. I'm running MC17, mainly for maintaining music libraries and DLNA serving for my TV and T+A MP1260R music streamer.

Now, the music streamer is a stand alone high quality device, with it's own quirks, as discovered here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=67922.0

With stand alone I mean that the streamer is just connecting with a DLNA server over network or USB. Controlling is done with the remote control or the buttons.

Recently I've purchased an Android tabled, and of course installed Gizmo on it. Works fast and flawless, but I can't control the streamer obviously.

Filddled with the options in MC17 without Gizmo first (zone, linking player to the streamer, using ASIO and direct sound), but it's not working. Most likely because I don't know exactly what I'm doing.

So is there a possibility to "push" content to the streamer?  If so, how? Through LAN or maybe USB? Or maybe only through it's digital in (optical/digital), using the streamer as DAC only?

My PC doesn't have a digital out, so that would be an issue.

And a question that has been buggering me for quite a while now: can I connect the streamer with the Windows PC with USB? (I would think not, but I'm hardly an expert..)

Last remark: I wnat the highest possible sound quality, using the high quality DAC in the streamer and I'm abou to upgrade the PC from XP Pro to Win7 Pro.

Just upgraded to Win7 Pro, and MC17 latest update. Seems that MC is running faster even. Nice!

Still no success with the controls. The streamer is now visible in MC, showing up in the "player" section, as is my TV.
So I giess it's not possible.

Can anybody confirm that the only route is to just send out a digital stream to the DAC?

It's difficult to understand exactly how you're connecting.

If you're using DLNA, and MC is the server, then it sounds like you're then using a remote for the streamer that allows you to play content from MC. 

To "push" to the streamer, by using MC itself, the streamer would have to be a DLNA Renderer.  You could read the wiki topic on DLNA for more about this.

On MC, try turning on "DLNA Extra" in settings under Media Network.

In either case, ASIO wouldn't apply.  You're connecting via your network.

Ok, understood the ASIO part.

I can see that people control their T+A streamers with Plugplayer, using different DLNA servers. Basically what I want. So this must mean that the T+A's must be renderers, right? So much new terminology for me, it's hard to get a clue where to start.
I'll check out the wiki about this topic,  and come back on what I tried.

DLNAExtra was already selected, but I forgot to update the access code in Gizmo. Updated, and it worked instantly.
