Explorer crash due to JRShellExt.dll
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:54:18 am »

Steps to reproduce the crash:

  • select item
  • locate->on disk (external)
  • inside opened explorer window: activate context menu on any media file
  • result:explorer crash

Context information:

  • Doesn't happen when shell extension is disabled (done using http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html)
  • Doesn't happen inside other explorer windows (only those created by "locate -> on disk")
  • Using MC17 17.0.147 Under WIN7 64

BTW: what is he purpose of that "context menu extension"? Activated or not I do not have noticed any difference on explorer context menus.

I asked someone else this recently.  Did you reboot after the installation/updated?

You're right, I didn't,

After having rebooted as suggested:
  • no more explorer crash.
  • context menu is now visible:

Thanks!

On my laptop, I can't duplicate the problem.  It's Win7 32.

You could try changing the browser engine to Chrome in MC.  It's under Tools/Options/Tree&View.

It may be a browser bug.
