So, I have the latest version of mc 17 installed. Windows 7, 64 bit. No matter what song i play, it crashes mid song. Now, when I stream via dlna to my directv box, no crash at all. So either something is wrong with play back, or the local library.

Anything might help. You've not said anything about the audio device or the driver, for example. No information about what you're playing.

Version number.

How you start playback.

Try setting Audio to DirectSound.

dell xps 15z laptop. realtek audio drivers. Sometimes I dont even need to be playing anything for it to crash. just so long as the library is selected it seems. all types of files, but mostly flac

That sounds like a general problem with the setup of the machine. The link called Stability in our wiki would be the best place to start.

You still haven't said which version you are using. 17.0.173 is available at the top of this board.

If you have a reproducible crash, please use Help > Logging. Mail the problem report to logs at jriver dot com.

thats just leftover files from audacity. I rip vinyl to audacity, then save it as flac. those are the project files.

You could remove the .au files from your library by deleting them.

You can edit the folder in Tools/Import/Auto import and uncheck the .au file type so they aren't imported.

Auto-import analyzes audio for unanalyzed audio files. That AU file is crashing during decoding. I'm still looking into fixing that.

In the meantime, as Jim mentioned, you can remove the AU files from your library to work around the problem or disable audio analysis in Auto-Import.
