Popping when playing WMA Lossless audio files with MC17
« on: August 22, 2012, 09:02:19 am »

Hello,

When I start a track playing I sometimes get a click or pop.
Sometimes I can get a click or pop between tracks on a pre-selected playlist.
Certain tracks never seem to click and other seem to always pop; but when I play the suspect files on other media players there's no click!

My current settings:
Windows Media Audio Lossless
WASAPI connection (exclusive with all the boxes ticked for buffer flushing etc)
Digital Optical Out (into my AV Receiver)

I've tried THE non-exclusive WASAPI and also DirectSound options, and I've also tried various combinations of flush buffer, do not flush, play silence at start for sync etc etc etc.  Some of the settings seem to delay when the pop occurs, but there's still a pop.

How can I fix this?
Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

The sound may be coming from your receiver.  I had a Sony receiver that could play 192Khz files, but would occasionally do what you're describing.  Try always playing to it at 96Khz, for example.  You can set that it DSP Studio / Output format.

it's on WASAPI exclusive Jim, so it's as per source, 44.1Khz and 16bit

any other thoughts?

There are two WASAPI settings.  Try both.
