Using JRiver for multi zone home audio
« on: January 03, 2013, 03:20:56 am »

Hi Everyone

Happy new year to you all.

i'm currently thinking about using jriver for multizone audio in my home. it will start off in 3 rooms all running from my home server (WHS2011) which can be upgraded to Windows 8 if necessary its currenty used as a upnp server for movies and music running on a HP micro server with 5 x 1.5 tb drives.

what im thinking is using this server with a low profile audio card and zone from there. i have a 8 channel 50wpc digital amp to cover powering speakers although the link to the lounge will be on SPdif and is over 2 floors (how far can SPDIF) go over.

can upgrade to v 18 if it helps.

I don't know the limit of SP/DIF, but you could try a Google search to read the specs.
