Also, is it possible to remove what appears from the options down the left hand side? Eg, removing performer store etc?

that is possible
go to tools>options>services and disable them.
if you only use mc for audio or something like that also check
tools>options>general>features.

options has also a search which is handy

ah, that one.. you can either remove links bar from options>general>features, when you dont want that bar at all, but you can also rightclick on for instance amazon, and choose manage links.. here remove amazon. you can add things for your self there too.. might be handy.

not sure what is not working. did you set Options > Startup > Location to something else than start. i find ' last location' comfortable. just pick what you like.
