XBox One integration with MC?
« on: May 22, 2013, 04:22:41 pm »

Wasn't sure where to start this topic ... if it should go somewhere else, maybe someone can move it for me.

I was doing a little reading about the new XBox One which is supposed to launch later this year (presumably for the holiday season).  I've been a long-time XBox gamer, so it's already my favorite gaming system ... but the new XBox One looks to be a pretty revolutionary step forward in all-around multimedia content delivery in addition to gaming.  It's going to handle all forms of video and audio content, live television, internet browsing, social media content, app integration and so on and so forth.

My question is ... since I'm completely convinced that JRiver is the best media player out there ... have you guys been approached by Microsoft about any kind of integration between MC and the new XBox?  Or ... other way around ... have you reached out to Microsoft about any kind of integration between MC and XBox One?

I can't imagine anything sweeter than being able to pull up MC by voice command through an XBox in order to enjoy all the features and conveniences of both at the same time.

It will probably work as a DLNA device to stream all your media, and from what I understand, it will run Windows 8 "Metro" apps, so you could potentially have something written for that which would interface with Media Center.

MC works with the current Xbox.  You could try a search here to read more.

It isn't quite DLNA, but it was close enough that we were able to get it working.

Microsoft never calls.
