How about a "Slim Version" of MC???
« on: December 11, 2013, 06:39:44 pm »

Hey!

I wonder if there will ever be realesed a kind of "slim version" of JRiver, for guys ( like me  ;D ) using audio-features only. A "real" High-End Audio center...  :)

Welcome to the forum.  You can probably configure MC to get close to what you want:

Hi JimH!

Thanks for the warm welcome...

I alredy disabled almost everything that's not audio related. That's what my brain told me first  ;D

If there won't be a "slim" one...how about creating an installer where to choose the prefered modules ( like DSP, Video stuff etc. ) to install by checking or unchecking? I think it would be good idea NOT to have things on HD, Registry etc. you don't want or you don't need...

Nevertheless MC is one of the best sounding progs I've ever seen...

Have you stripped Windows of all services and processes and registry entries that you don't need, and deleted all temporary and cached files from your hard disk? Also, how much RAM have you got and what version of Windows are you using? If you're worried about the amount of RAM that MC uses then you could pop in another memory card.

Media Center is about as slim as it gets for an audio application. Even with the video features enabled, it's using a miniscule amount of RAM.

The registry is never a problem.  It has no effect.

Disk space used is tiny compared to a media library.

JRiver does NOT recommend modifying Windows in any way.

There are programs like antivirus that can cause problems sometimes, not usually.

If you have a real problem, please post the details, but please don't make up imaginary ones.
