JRiver 19 unhandled exception
« on: January 24, 2014, 08:02:32 am »

I just downloaded the software and installed on my Windows 8 machine.  All I do is open it and I receive this error:
Unhandled exception at 0x071FE785 (JRPlayer.dll) in Media Center 19.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000004.

Any ideas?

If you haven't rebooted, reboot.

Otherwise, please refer to the MC Troubleshooting Guide and perform those steps first:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Center_Troubleshooting_Guide

This kind of thing is often due to:

* Misbehaving anti-virus or security application
* Misbehaving hardware (possibly an audio device driver)

Almost certain to be a problem with antivirus software.

If it crashes immediately upon launch, and this is the first time you're trying it, then... Well, first, sorry for the trouble.  Secondly, let us know, and I can get you a registry file that will enable MC's Logging so that we can (at least) look at a log and see what's happening.

I agree with JimH though, probably an AV issue.  I'd target that first, and look at hardware second.
