lag when playing bluray folder
« on: February 28, 2014, 12:09:20 pm »

Hey friends

I've been really enjoying music through jriver the past two days (switched from xbmc 5 days ago), and today, I wanted to test my bluray stocked on my nas, folder, not iso.
They were running without a single problem with xbmc + Mpc hc (and lot of filter to improve quality).

Sadly, when launching them with jriver, they are freezing every two seconds or so.
I'm using red october HQ + madvr (not frightened since my config is supposed to be powerfull enough, I7 3770 + ati 7870, SSD 60, window7 and 8go DDR3.

I'm quite lost since I don't know where this is coming from, very high quality mkv plays just fine...

Anyone facing the same problems?

Try 19.0.118:

and try Red October Standard.

Antivirus programs can also cause problems like this.

I'm already with the latest 118 version, but will try with the red october. if it's that, I'll create a third zone for BR playback then (would be weird though)

Also try with HW Accleration On/Off (Tools --> Options --> Video) and let us know how you go.

going to try that

Strange thing, on my gaming rig (2600K intel cpu, GTX780), it's play smooth with or without hardware acceleration.
I'll try in my pchc without red october HQ then:(

I'm sure it will be fine.  It will be more of narrowing down the setting causing the issue.  When you use RO HQ, have you changed any of the settings (or using external instances of) madVR?

How about antivirus?  It should not be checking each media file each time it's opened.

Hey guys

I think I've found where this is coming from.

Those BR folder are 29hz video format, and when I open madvr display, I can see clearly that my screen is set to 24hz, and there are massive amount of dropped frame, and thus, the result with lag.
It's strange because in my ati catalyst, I'm sure I've the 50hz, 29hz and 23,96hz set up.

I don't have any antivirus installed though.

I do wonder if I should re install a fresh windows 7 installation now...

Couple of options to try:
- Checking "ON" the Automatic change: Under Tools--> Options--> Video--> Display Settings
- Checking "ON" Video Clock: Under Tools--> Options--> Video--> General Video Settings
