Resource Usage with Gizmo on Intel NUC
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:10:06 am »

Intel® NUC Kit DN2820FYKH. Intel® Celeron® processor N2820 (up to 2.4 GHz dual-core, 1MB cache, 7.5 W TDP) 4 Gigs of DDR3 running windows 8.1.

Gizmo uses up all system resources VIA web browser and or Android cell phone. DLNA playback is fine.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) with 16 Gigs of DDR3 running windows 7. Gizmo works perfectly fine.

Running the JRiver Media Center 19 or Media Server in Windows 7 compatibility mode or any other mode is not an option.

What can be done to resolve this problem besides having to reinstall Windows 7 onto the Intel NUC Kit DN2820FYKH?

Are you using the stock configuration?

Are you using memory playback?  If so, turn it off.

What is the audio device?

What build of MC are you using?

Gizmo can't use resources on Windows.

Antivirus?

Fresh install. No threats at all. No spyware or virus threats of any kind.
Everything else is working perfectly.

The antivirus software itself could be the problem, not viruses.

Tried different compatibility modes and the end results were the same.
I'll try disabling windows defender see what happens.
Worse come to worse I'll just restage it with windows 7 tomorrow.
Let you know how things go. Thanks.

Performed a reinstall of windows 7 Pro today. End results are the same as windows 8.1.
100% resources are being used when trying to access the server with gizmo.
I really don't know what the problem is. Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
The Intel NUC DN2820FYKH should handle this without a glitch.
No issues with XBMC and or other media software.
I'll post something on the Intel form and see if anyone else has issues like this.

Memory playback? Is this a setting in river media center somewhere?

You should elaborate a bit what you're trying to do.
"Access with Gizmo" is not very descriptive.

Are you trying to play a Video in Gizmo? I'm afraid this NUC is far from being strong enough to be able to stream video to Gizmo.

Also, please try to use one thread.  Having things spread all around just confuses the issue.  I merged your two recent threads on this issue.

Please do as Hendrik suggested and explain, exactly like we're dumb babies, what you are trying to do.  Assuming we understand isn't helping.

Thanks and Sorry, and yes the video playback uses all the resources. Thought for sure 2.4 GHz dual-core would handle this.
Guess I'll sick with DLNA for now until I can afford to purchase and i5 NUC.

Hi Roger, I have this unit and here is my review.  I have not issues with using RO Std with this NUC but I imagine if you are trying to use it as a server to transcode and steam to GIZMO it will just struggle.

Thanks and Sorry

No worries.  :)

Your NUC can probably stream files that are already in the proper source format without too much trouble.  So, you could pre-transcode video you want to use via Gizmo.

Playback to Gizmo always requires transcoding at this time.
