Thanks Yaobing. I have tried JRiver for tv few years back and have been using the settings on different systems. Maybe the analog channel settings got carried over from there. Is there a way to 'clean' all the tv settings alone and start from scratch if needed?
No straight-forward way yet. I am working on offering ways to clean up. For now, you can to the following:
Remove all channels in Manage Channels tool. Just select all channels (click the channel on top of the list, then scroll down to the bottom and click the channel at the bottom
while holding SHIFT key), and click Delete button.
Remove all programs - Run Load Program Guide tool, and choose "Clear Program Guide".
The only way to clean out settings is to delete the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 20\TV Settings
^^^ This has been a sore issue with watching a channel. No matter how I select the channel, either the play button when the channel is highlighted or click on the program name and selecting "watch", the playback always jumps to the first channel. Do you have a recommendation to debug this unexpected behavior?
Did you customize Theater view Guide? The default behavior of Guide is that you can not select a channel. You only select a program.
^^^ I wrote the file name from memory. The name was very clear, something about recording or tv settings and the file had the two show names I tried to record. Renaming or deleting the file fixed the issue of JRiver crashing within a minute of start-up.
Maybe you meant TVRecording.xml. This file is inside the Library folder and is the file that holds TV recording data - all your scheduled recordings, either subscription or one-time recordings.
Did you set up subscription in Theater view or standard view?
Did you try subscription again after deleting the file? Maybe the file was corrupt. If that is the case, it should be OK now after deleting it. If it still leads to crashes, enable logging and send me a log package (after crash, restart MC and go straight to Help > Logging and grab the log files).
I also have a Ceton InfiniTV PCI card. I am currently not using it since I do not subscribe to the digital package from Time Warner. Will JRiver work for the basic digital and analog channels without a cable card?
You have to get a CableCARD from the cable company in order to use you Ceton InfiniTV PCI. I use this device and it works well. We support all channels that are not encrypted. Whether it will work depends on your cable company. Comcast in my area does not encrypt basic channels. Some companies encrypt all channels.
