The "up" arrow on the remote does exactly that... The info button on the MCE remote should be used to give the detailed description , season, episode etc of the program being watched (I would want it mainly in theater view).
Incorrect. The "info" button on the remote shows the detailed description, while the "up" arrow does not.
Also, as of MC21.0.01, the "D" button on a keyboard does the same thing as the Info button.
21.0.1 (8/4/2015)
23. NEW: Keyboard shortcut 'D' for onscreen information display (equivalent to remote control info button) that toggles among "playback position"/"program name"/"program description".
If you want to see the "Watch" screen while playing a TV show:
1. Press the Guide button. If don't wish to miss any of the show, press Pause before Guide.
2. The channel you are currently watching will be highlighted in the Guide. Press OK.
3. Now you are at the "Watch" screen. Read all you like.
4. When you are finished, press the Media Center button (Big Green Button on an MCE remote), probably twice, and you will be back on the Display View screen with live or paused TV showing. If you didn't pause the TV show in step one, you could have just pressed Watch to get back to the TV channel, instead of the Media Center Button.
5. Play with using the Media Center button while doing other things in Theatre View. It toggles you around your current and previous two screen, and allows you to make changes or check things while the TV show is still playing, for example.

Learn how to add a Custom Command to your remote:
a. Options > Remote Control > Add > Custom, give the command a name like "Information", > Commands > Add Command > select "Theatre View: Playing Now". Hit OK.
b. Make sure your new command is highlighted in the command list.
c. With your remote ready in hand, click the "Start Learning" button on screen
d. Press the "Info" button on your remote
e. Click the "Stop Learning" button on screen. MC will have saved a learned trigger code, equivalent to the "Info" button on your remote, against your new command.
f. Click OK to exit the Options dialogue.
g. Start a TV program, however you like; through the guide, selecting play while highlighting a channel under Television in Standard View, whatever...
h. Press the "Info" button on your remote. MC will take you to the Playing Now screen while the TV show keeps playing. You will hear the audio.
i. Press the right button on your remote once. This will take you to the Info page, which has the same data as the Watch page. You may even get some images for the program displaying in the background.
j. Press the right button again. Now you will be on the List page. You will see the TV Channel playing in a small window to the right.
k. Press the up or down button on your remote. This will scroll you up and down the channel list, and on the right will be information about the show currently showing on the highlighted channel, including the detailed description. Same as the Watch screen. If you can't see the full detailed description, press the right button to see the full detail. Press the left button to go Back to the list.
l. All finished? Press the left button to get Back to the top level menu, then press the right button to move to Playing Now.
m. Now you are back at the Display View screen of Theatre View, showing a full screen view of the live TV channel.
Sweet huh?
Explore MC. It does a lot, with just a few simple remote buttons, and perhaps a little bit of configuration.
