MediaCenter Purchase Problem
« on: March 17, 2012, 05:14:01 pm »

Hello guys,
After testing out the MediaCenter trial I decided to purchase the software today and it's not gone at all to plan >:(

I wanted to pay by paypal and firstly I'd like to mention the fact that the payment page which pops up on JRiver asks for all your details straight out - name/address/ credit card etc, which I found strange because the whole idea of Paypal is that you shouldn't need to give all that sensitive information to a buyer.

I chose not to include my address and credit card details and after selecting "pay by paypal" the page did indeed proceed to paypals payment screen. So, perhaps JMedia could make it more clear to the buyer that if paying by paypal they only need to fill in certain criteria, instead of wasting their time entering sensitive information which actually they dont need to.

Anyway, after I completed my payment the MediaCenter did not automatically install a license key.
So I did all the available options from the player itself regarding licensing and still no joy. I was given a file to download, an executable called MediaCenter17-1169, but this refuses to open on my system (win7 64).

So the bottom line is I'm sat here almost 2 hours after deciding to buy this thing, with it not working and a reciept from paypal.

I'd appreciate any help from anyone who may know what to do.
Thanks very much in advance.

The "Purchase" link above has information that may help.  There is an alternate way to save the Install Key.

But the problem may be with your browser.  One of the browsers (Opera?) renames the Install Key with an exe extension.  The extension should be .mjr .

Occasionally Paypal will fail, too.

So just report what you find (with details but not the license).  We'll get you going.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your reply.
I do indeed run Opera, so I guess that must be what it was that caused my problems and not MediaCenter so I sincerely apologize for pointing my finger in the wrong direction so quickly  :-[
I went back to the original email sent when I made my purchase and instead right clicked on the file and saved it to the desktop as "mjr" extension.
I opened up MediaCenter and it recognised the file this time round and all is fine!!  ;D ;D ;D
Thanks again for your answer and apologies for my grumpy approach, I was having a weekend where everything just seemed to be going wrong.
I use IK Multimedia's ARC room correction software, and being able to run it inside MediaCenter as a VST is just fantastic.
Looking forward to having MediaCenter as part of my music making arsenal.
Thanks again.
