I already posted this on a other topic but maybe this is the better place.
I performed handheld sync to my Pixel 3. For Playlist i choosed the standard m3u format.
Now i can see and play the synced music in JRiver for Android. The Playlists are listed in Imported Playlists, but they are empty.
Any suggestions? Thank you!

If you can see the playlists but they're empty, it probably means the file paths in the playlist are wrong and might need to be adjusted. If you can, open up one of the m3u files in a text editor and make sure the file paths are correct.

probably a config issue: the volume sound level as heard in my Bluetooth headsets is sort of capped when playing from jriver android in my phone, normally I need to put it close to Max to hear a reasonable level, while with the preinstalled music app in the phone, or Spotify, I get much higher sound levels. Any suggestion on how to fix?

JRiver running on iBasso DX220...

Plays back 192khz Flac and 1x DSF file @ 352.8khz bitperfect....

Nice Work.

2x DFF shows as decoding @ 705.6khz but just silence. (DAC has support for 8 x DSD (Octuple DSD or 512DSD)

Make sure the volume in JRiver for Android isn't set really low. You'll need to have the phone in the landscape orientation to see the volume slider on the Playing Now page.

Is there any secret to getting SD cards to show up in library search?

My iBasso DX220 works fine with JRiver playing DSD and 192k FLAC which is great, but JRiver isn't picking up my SD card?

I'm happy to help by running any command line tools or get dumps of config files on my device if it helps troubleshoot. (it's rooted with magisk)

PS. Music is stored in root folder called Music on SD Card. Device path = /storage/SDdeviceid/Music

If you could, try moving the Music folder into another folder so it's not at the root level. You could create a folder called Media and put it in there if possible. There seems to be an issue importing from folders at the root level.

love JRiver media center, only have one problem , I have a Galaxy S9+ wich I play music in my car thru a dongle to Sound Blaster X-Fi-HD which sounds great, the JRiver app i got does not play thru the usb audio , 2 other apps on my phone play music thru X-Fi-HD, big sound difference playing thru X-Fi-HD compared to headphone out which is the only way to hear JRiver

Currently I use JRiver MC25 to play music files to my USB DAC for DAC/Preamp/Poweramp listening.
Have used JRiver for several years.

For portable Bluetooth speaker type listening I have been using an app called HiFiCast +DLNA which has provided me a great solution for $3.99.

Only one trouble I have found with it was the search facility when it comes to compilation albums.

So I was wondering if your android version would be worth purchasing but given its cost I thought I would ask first.

I have about 11000 compilation tracks ( out of 63000 tracks ) that usually sit in a folder called say Various Album Compilations ( or whatever folder name is chosen to park these).
To get a proper seach of compilation albums I have had to use mp3tag to add the artist name to the title name
using a tag-tag convert of %title% - %artist% ( the dash is only there for looks ) for all tracks that have a "1" in the compilation tag

This could be because the NAS I use uses Twonky maybe.?

The search using JRiver media centre is fine on a PC coming from the same source with or without adding the %title% - %artist% statement to the NAS files for compilation tracks.

So before I think about buying the JRiver for android I wanted to ask how your android version handles searches as far as compilation albums are concerned?

What is the search looking at? Artist or Album Artist or Title or ?

If Album Artist then its going to have an issue with Compilations I guess as the Album Artis would be Various Album Compilations.

Also what is the difference with the way the MC handles searches for compilation type albums?

Was also thinking of changing my NAS to a Synology to see if a different music server would be of help ie minimserver or asset etc.
While on NAS's ...Synology or QNAP or ?.. also Twonky or Minimserver or Asset...any suggestions on which way to go if I change NAS type?

Although my %title% - %artist% works its an extra step I have to do after ripping and adds to the length of naming.

Also in my country the android version of JRiver is $14.99 so it would be nice for a trial version as I have already wasted a lot of money on apps to see if they work as different music player can / seem to handle things differently from each other...and maybe a even break for those who have been loyal and purchased JRiver MC over the years would be nice

Good thing about standards I guess is that there are so many to choose from

JRiver for Android plays local files only, at this time. Only the files from the tablet, in your case. The rest would work.

Happy with JRiver MC so was hoping that the android version would surpass Foobar Mobile or my current player.

Your biggest problem, with that arrangement and in regards to searching compilation albums or any searches, is that you must be running the DLNA Server on your NAS. That will never give you the power searches MC is capable of.

The answer would be to run MC on a small, low powered device for audio, such as the JRiver Id, IdPi, or a NUC running MC. See https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/board,42.0.html

With MC running on the small device, the DLNA server turned off in your NAS, you could use JRemote for Android (I've not used - read reviews {sorry Jim}), or MO 4Media, which I am still using the free version of, and like.

An Id, IdPi, and maybe even a NUC suitable just for audio would be cheaper than a new NAS, in all likelihood.

As far as searching goes if I combine the title and artist using the tag-tag command..all is good and believe it or not it performs this fast even on a Samsung Tablet using the music app I currently use.

A NUC plus a 4TB HDD ... I cannot get the price down below a 2 Bay Synology with a 4TB HDD..unless I am not shopping in the right place.

I was hoping simply that JRiver for android would do a better function to my current music app, thats all.

If it had of been available a few years ago I probably would not of hunted down a music app that suited my needs albeit with a bit of tweaking for the compilation ideosycrasies.

It would be nice to know how JRiver performs the search functions though

Appreciate your thought but I was looking for a solution that does not involve a PC.

How well does this work on an Android TV box. I have an A95X 4GB RAM 64GB ROM Amlogic S905X2 Quad Core 64bit Smart TV Box with an internal 500GB hard drive on order. I with have all my ripped CD in APE format. My plan is to use this as a HIFI media player for my living room. Will I be able to navigate with a remote or will I need a mouse? Also will it be possible to view, edit and control this app from a android phone when the HDTV is not on?

I am excited to try this out.

I decided to try it out on my Asus Zenpad 3S 10 and had better luck. One request would be to add the ability to select what folder(s) to scan for importing albums. Also it would be nice to have bigger transport buttons when in the screen showing the current track being played.

We might be able to adjust the size, but the position needs to be at the bottom of the screen.

I suppose you tried turning the tablet to a horizontal position.

Can you check which version of Android this tablet is using? It might be outside what JRiver for Android supports. JRiver for Android requires Android 5.0 or later.

Is JRiver for Android still considered Beta in the Play Store? I'm asking because I have two phones, a personal and a work cell. My work cell uses a different google account, but I've added that google account to my "Family Library" so that I can share apps I've purchased with both phones. I have JRiver added on my personal cell to the Family Library, but when I view the Family Library option on my work cell, I do not see JRiver at all. It's using a different google address though, so I'm wondering if the beta aspect is preventing my other phone from seeing it.

JRiver for Android has been out of beta for over a month, so I'm not sure if that's the problem.

It show in my Play Store as "You're a beta tester." I'm going to try leaving that to see if that makes a difference and will update here.

I did a few things, so not sure which triggered it to work. I left the beta program, and it wasn't updated on my work phone. I then uninstalled and reinstalled, and unchecked Family Library, and re-checked it. Now it shows on my work phone.

So who knows, but at least I got it to show!

I am using JRiver on Android on my head-unit in the car (Recreation Vehicle). The device is running on an Intel-Processor (Joying, a Chinese supplier) with Android 8.1 and full access to the Google Playstore. I downloaded JRiver (4G-Modem is inside the unit) and installed it. First I am using the build in RAM to store the audiofiles but I ran out of space. So I decided to use a Micro SD-Card (64 GB) and store the files in a folder named "Music". The device has a detachable screen und you can access the slot for the card easily - to install a proper USB Connection needs more efforts in a dashboard. Every new start of JRiver took a while (34 GB files) before you can use Panel to choose your music. This device is the only unit today (except Sony $$$$$) which offers a SPDIF digital out. Within the next weeks I will install my car amplifier with spdif input and built in decoders for Dolby and DTS sourround (Phonocar). Till now I can play stereo flac and multichannel flac (JRiver downmixed to stereo on the fly). MKA files (multichannel Dolby and DTS) and SACD-ISO doesn't work (yet?). What I am missing is to control my head-unit with a phone or my tablet (NEXUS) when sitting in the back of the RV. I can get a connection using the inbuild WiFi of the unit and all the files and covers of the library show up with JRemote or Gizmo on my Nexus. Even I can stop or play an open file with the remote device. Choosing a new file ends with a crash of JRiver on my head-unit. Any ideas ?

Changed my Android TV. Now my chain is:

Beelink GT-King (Amlogic S922X) -> LH Labs Revive (USB Reclocker) -> LH Labs Geek Pulse Infinity (DAC/Amp) + LPS4 -> Audio Zenith PMx2

External 8TB HDD on USB 3.0 (18K songs)

Comments:
1. It works a little slow showing/displaying the library everytime I go back to the menu (Album, Artist etc.). Will you make remember the folder placement everytime I go back instead going back to the top?
2. Plays DSD256 and DXD without glitch (maybe because I have now a more powerful Android TV)
3. My DAC/Amp display 96Khz all the time. Android driver?
4. Wishing I could have a Folder Option on the menu and access my folders w/in JRiver Android and play my music.

Just installed JRiver for android on my Xperia XA2 ultra worked fine with import as far as I can see and plays excellently.

One question and two observation.

Question
I think this was asked before by syndromeofadown , How do I get my favourite podcasts into the list?

Observations:
1. I use the device a lot with the headphone jack (both to headphones and stereo) when I pull out the jack while playing it keeps playing just with no sound, I then have to stop the music and restart (doesn't work with pause).
2. to use jriver radio is extremely slow it takes around 25 sec to start and also to stop

Great product guys also using MC25 on PC

I have just downloaded and installed MC for Android.

It appears Radio Paradise is played back at 192kHz sample rate according to an attached DAC's LED sample rate indicator, as are DSD files. I haven't tried to load any Redbook or other PCM sample rate local files as yet.

Is this app only supporting the Android device's native sample rate? While I see a setting for Audio Device, the USB connected DAC doesn't appear to be one of the choices despite the fact it is outputting sound. The two choices under Audio Device are Android Oboe (shouldn't it be "Oreo"?), and [Null Output].

The device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017), model number SM-T380, running Android 8.1 Oreo.

The actual audio output plugins are hidden behind a library called Oboe. Oboe handles selecting the audio output plugin and configuration based on what the device is capable of handling. It helps to maintain compatibility with more devices because older Android devices don't support the AAudio output plugin that newer devices support.

OK, so in the case of a DAC connected via USB, that DAC is playing sound, but only at 192khz sample rate. Is there any way for the DAC to play tracks at their native sample rates?

It would seem under Audio Device that I'd see the DAC and be able to select it but I can't, though again, it does play sound despite that, just at a fixed 192kHz sample rate.

You know what's cool?

I'm sitting at work and i load up panel on my phone. go to the site and load up IP:52199 in my browser and it loads everything perfectly.

really slick!

The things that android needs are:
* a play all button in each category. (play all music, play all video. + shuffle)
* a way to customize the panel buttons which is something i only recently saw was possible in the desktop version.
* search by type. I search by .mp3 and get the same result but still it would be better not to need to do that.

If you can use the DAC with your phone, then JRiver should be able to see it, but it's something I've never tried.

Yes, 3 posts back I described it, the DAC isn't recognized in terms of MC listing it as an available Audio Device under that drop down, however the DAC does play sound, but only at the Android device's 192kHz native sample rate. In other words, the Radio Paradise FLAC stream which should be at 44.1 kHz is being re-sampled, and so is everything else including local files on the SD card, they all play back at 192kHz.

This suggests to me that MC for Android has no USB audio driver of it's own, and instead relies on the Android audio stack for any/all connection to a USB DAC, no?

JRiver for Android is licensed through the Play Store, so their rules apply. You can run it on multiple devices as long as its on the same google account, as far as I remember.
