It's possible it's a bug.  We're still tuning.

Playback information does not show up for me. It shows only after I go to the "playing now" icon on top right. Also, the information still does not change with track changes (when listening to an album). Neither in "playing now", nor on the bottom left.

This is still valid for 81 for me. Also: wasn't there an indicator in the tracklist on what is playing now? I took the screenshot while track 3 already played. I started from playing track 1 and left it playing.

Does this only happen when you're playing to the zone, Player?

"Play (shuffled)" for a playlist would be nice to have.

Will it ever be feasible to connect to panel externally, somehow using the access key?

I'm really enjoying Panel. A few things

  • Panel is now logging plays. Awesome!
  • I can now set audio quality in Panel. Double Awesome!
  • When I start play from a car radio button on my LG G4, I have to hit pause and then play before playback begins.
  • I'd love to add a car radio button directly to my phone's home screen. Any support for that coming?

Thanks for all the work on this feature.

Is Javascript allowed?

Do you get the same thing if you try from another device?

Is Panel a replacement for JRemote?

Is Panel meant to replace JRemote? I haven't tried Panel yet so I'm trying to understand where it fits in.

Panel's Video Playback works pretty well with the exception of UHD 60fps material, for which playback never starts.  There is a burst of CPU activity and I can see an initial VideoStream, seg0 and seg1.ts files are created in the Temp folder but nothing happens after that.

Panel has suddenly stopped working for me. When I try to access it remotely in Chrome, either on a PC or on my Android phone, I first see a white splash page that says "JRiver Panel" and then I get a solid gray screen. No icons, no links. This started today. (MC 23.0.82, Windows 10)

It might be a similar problem to the one I described above. Neither restarting MC nor restarting the PC (Panel connects to) helped. Clearing out the browser cache fixed it, which is not a solution IMO.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but will Panel get ratings? Ratings never worked for me on Gizmo (Android).

Panel issues:

1. Panel works on safari and chrome, but ONLY if I play "here".  If I set panel to "player" the screen is black as people are describing and I don't know how to get it back to displaying anything.  Did not test IE.

2. Panel scrolling through playlists (when using "here") is MUCH slower than JRemote.  Too slow for my 400 playlists.

edit: under 1: when I initially switched on my iphone to "player" it did work.  I closed and could not get it to work again, even on another computer. (always a black screen if set to player)

In settings, you can tell Panel how many items to display.  If you have 400, try setting it to 200 or so.

There was a change to the way Panel handles storing information in 23.0.82, which could explain why clearing the cache resolved the problem.

I just played to "Here" and I don't encounter those issues.

This should be fixed in 23.0.83.

Had tried clearing the cache already and that didn't work. Clearing history did, however. Thanks.

Hi,

Is there a way to save the zone and number of items per page?

When I launch Panel from a PC the zone is reseted to Here and the number to 50.

That information is stored in a cookie when you change it, so if you're clearing out your internet history, it's going to lose those changes.

Thanks but that's not it either. Both are allowed -- checked both desktop and mobile (Chrome for Windows and Android). This behavior began with the update to .82. Haven't changed any browser settings since.

Hi, I am having fun with Panel and JRiver 23.0.82. I've got it working from phones and other computers on the LAN, and also from phones via the Internet. I set up my main computer with a static IP and did the port forwarding in my router. Then I even enabled SSL, and got that working from the Internet. SSL/HTTPS seems to slow Panel down a bit, but its cool.

Here are my questions:

1) Wake on LAN: Using another computer within the network/LAN using JRiver itself, I can get it to wake my main PC from sleep, but I can't seem to get Panel either on a phone or on a computer to wake the PC. Does Panel support WoL? It seems a bit limited outside the home if it can't wake up my sleeping computer. Suggestions?

2) SSL/HTTPS: Like I said it works, but the normal HTTP version still works, too. Shouldn't enabling SSL make it so HTTP doesn't work? Is this a security risk, or is it as long as I don't use HTTP (thus revealing my password), am I OK?

Thanks everyone!

Panel is just a website being served by Media Center running on your system, when its sleeping it can't do anything, and browsers can't send WoL packets either. Some routers have the ability to wake systems on your LAN if an external request tries to reach them, other then that there would need to be some other mechanism to wake it.

2) SSL/HTTPS: Like I said it works, but the normal HTTP version still works, too. Shouldn't enabling SSL make it so HTTP doesn't work? Is this a security risk, or is it as long as I don't use HTTP (thus revealing my password), am I OK?

As long as you don't use HTTP, there is also no risk of any information leaking out. Since basically everyone sits behind a router anyway, the solution to "block" HTTP would be to just not forward the HTTP port in the router, and only forward the HTTPS port.

When using a nonstandard tcp port, I cannot load the new authentication screen remotely. It appears something is hardcoded with the default port (52199) and so even if I access the nonstandard port, the web browser is redirected to the default port and the connection is subsequently refused. This was never a problem using basic authentication in older versions.

I have Panel working fine on the LAN but not when I leave the house. Gizmo works fine when I'm not at home. Question: does Panel work outside of my LAN?

Checking back in to report that since the update to .84, the problem is corrected. Thank you.

I do want alert you to a couple of more issues: 1) Long words in titles spill across columns in the thumbnail displays. (Maybe we could have the option to use smaller type under the thumbnails?); 2) The back button doesn't behave as I'd expect it to. Say I'm on page four of my Album listings. I click on an album, then change my mind and hit "back," either in Panel or in my browser. It doesn't take me to the page I was just on; it goes back to page 1.

Hello-

I just downloaded MC23 onto my wife's Microsoft surface pro, successfully registered the license and have activated the panel feature in her Firefox web browser. I can sign in to the panels, but none of the music library is showing. If I play from another computer it sees what's playing and I can control the song, but there is no library showing in Artists, genres, albums etc.

Can you please help?

Thanks.

I like the bigger square icons for Panel on my phone, aka Radio KISS. The small square icons don't always have enough space for text. Also the radio buttons are more colorful, which is nice.

Screenshots attached. Thanks for development here, it's a fantastic interface.

Skipping songs in Panel on my phone sometimes create hundreds of scrobbles in last.fm.

My current record is 691 scrobbles from one skip  ;D

I'm curious about not merging JRemote and Panel.  I was thinking that merging would happen at medium-term.

While for me, JRemote is still the fastest and best UI app, Panel seems to become the front remote access app for JRiver.  If Panel will take the best of Gizmo and JRemote, what is the interest in letting these apps coexist instead of making Panel the only - and best - way to remotely control MC (over time)? Flexibility?

Panel isn't meant to replace JRemote or Gizmo.  Its mission is to be easy to use and quick to learn.

Update on this. It's the #Plays in JRiver itself that is spawning hundreds, even thousands of duplicate plays. It happens on my phone and pc in Chrome (I haven't tested other browsers yet)

I haven't been able to figure it out. Any ideas?

Here's a screenshot from my Top Hits playlist.

Can I set Panel up as a "Zone" in JRiver on my PC? I want to push music out to one or more Panel enabled devices on my network while also playing the same music on my computer (in sync)? Or is there another way to accomplish this?

Probably not.  You need to start the audio from Panel itself.

You can accomplish this with a third party solution. Search for Tuneblade on the forum.

Can the titles below the covers be made optional? Or the cover size-to-text-ratio be changed? It looks horrible.
