Cannot load program on Windows 10 [Solved]
« on: August 04, 2017, 02:26:47 pm »

Hello, I've tried searching, but can't find a topic relevant to my issue. When I click on run MC on my PC running Windows 10, the box starts jittering, and I have to use Task Manager to stop the process. I haven't been able to use Mc for a few months now. Has anyone else had this issue, and know a way to solve it? TIA.

Could be an antivirus problem.

Reinstall MC over the current version. One of the current MC files may have gone rogue.

I tried installing with the AV turned off. Same issue... Is there a 64 Bit version? I will try a few other things, and report back if I have any issues. Thanks.

Turning off AV may not be enough.  Uninstall it.

No 64 bit version, but the 32 bit version works fine on 64 bit machines.

Hi, I've kind of put it o  the back burner... My wife tole me she missed using the program, so I tried installing again.. Still get the jitters when I hit run, and when I use ctrl alt delete, it says program not responding... I've used Revo Uninstaller to remove all remnants, and it still won't run Any more ideas? Miss my MC!

Did you uninstall the antivirus software?  Something is preventing MC from installing.

A bit of a guess. . . MC may be running the 'create thumbnails' task when it starts and you may not have given it the chance to finish, so next time it starts it continues to run the task as it hasn't completed as yet.. .  Try leaving MC to run, say overnight, and see if it starts to act normally.

Help | System Info... will show any tasks that are currently running that may affect the user interface. . .

I'm having problems loading 64bit MC on Windows 10 my problem is that Kaspersky endpoint security is identifying the install (media center 23.exe) as a Trojan or doing Trojan type things.
Any ideas?

Uninstall Kaspersky or try telling Kaspersky to allow MC to install.

Please report the problem to Kaspersky.  Google "false positive kaspersky".

Thanks Jim, installing 101.. Senior moments(s)! Turned off Norton, and we're back in business... Keep up the good work!
