Album name is incorrect
« on: April 30, 2003, 02:32:02 pm »

I reported this yesterday but will try a better explanation today.

I did a find and replace on Album.  chaned "am gold" to
"Time-Life AM Gold"

The properties show the new album name.

In this Scheme the OLD NAME is shown.

in this one it shows the new one

I have deleted the Scheme, and added them back in, no good,  I have re-imported the tags no good.

Help   ?

I may not understand, but it looks like in one you're looking at location (folder on the HD) and the other you're looking at the album tag in MC.  Is it possible those are just out of sync?

Sorry if I'm missing the boat.

Don't feel bad -- that's a pain.

I want optional auto-synchronization of filename and database info in the next version.  (change one, the other auto-magically changes)

I think my "one big friggin' directory" approach would have prevented this problem.

Then the claim will be that organization would be lost.

Then the question will be, why do we need three ways to organize (directory names, file names, and tags)?

whoeveryouare - I think that's already the question  :)
That question appears to be one of the motivators behind the new file system being developed for future versions of Windows and some other file systems. IIRC, the file system becomes a big database with some default and some definable information about your files. Instead of just browsing folders you'll also have 'albums' of related files. Should give more power to searches and organization.
