I guess I wouldn't mind if the Control Bar stayed visible while my mouse was on the left, bottom, or right edge, as it does with the top edge. The issue with that though is that if you move the mouse out of the way and it hits an edge, the Control bar stays visible and covers some of the screen. As it is now, it just displays briefly and then closes. I think that is why it works as it currently does, to not permanently cover some of the screen.

I can see a use case for having the Mini View Control Bar pop out and then automatically close for at least one of the edges.  The problem with current Left, Bottom, Right behavior is the "on time" is too short, about 1 second, and it tends to blink.  If the Mini View remained visible for about 5 seconds and then disappeared that would allow enough time to comfortably read the track information without any additional mouse motion to remove it.  If the Mini View "slid" slowly back, that would add an additional cool factor .  This may qualify for an under-one-hour fix .

I meant physically move the mouse out of the way, or put an Airmouse down, and some other pointing device, all of which could consequently move the pointer on the screen, possibly to an edge.

A longer delay makes a lot more sense. Five seconds sounds good, or maybe three would be enough. Yeah, I think three. It does sound like a quick change.

I use both JRiver and Plex. I prefer JRiver for playing hi-res pcm and dsd audio on a high quality audio system, because it does not touch the bit stream. Plex tends to transcode certain audio and I can hear the difference with high quality recordings. However, for remote and mobile access I prefer Plex over JRiver, because you know who is using the system and what they are accessing.
I am surprised I cannot find any usage and security monitoring within JRiver MC. For security reasons it would be nice to be able to see which remote users and IP adresses are using JRiver MC and which media they are accessing.
At this moment I monitor and log the connections to JRiver with a separate TCP viewer on the host system. However, I still think MC should provide some basic usage and security information in de GUI.
For the rest I am very satisfied with JRiver MC.

Currently when a MC server has both authentication enabled and read-only access for everyone enabled, there's no way for library clients to select whether they want to connect read-only or authenticated.  That means that clients with saved authentication credentials seem to "choose" one of the two at random (at least in my testing), and clients without saved credentials can only connect read-only (there's no way to even get to a credential prompt on the client when the server has read-only access enabled). 

I would like a setting in desktop MC (probably in library manager) called "connect to server using:" and then have a toggle that can be switched between "authentication (if possible)" or "read only".  If you toggle the setting, the client would then disconnect and reconnect with the specified configuration. 

The use case is that I want most of my clients/remotes to connect read-only, but I want some "trusted" clients to be able to connect to the server with authentication.  To be clear, I'm *not* asking for a similar setting for remotes like Panel or JRemote as that would present some challenges, I'm just looking for an option for desktop MC Library Clients.

I want to do away with my MP3 conversions for ages (Opus works fine in UAPP for Android), the last thing I need it for is JRiver. Opus plows MP3 to irrelevancy, and I hope we'll one day see it supported properly on JRiver. My biggest wish for 2021 :]

Here is a brief summary of MC27 playlist behavior. Lets say I send a playlist of 100 songs to my DLNA renderer I listen to 25 tracks tonight, stop playback, saving the remaining songs for another day. Return the next day and click "Clear Played from Playing Now", followed by "Remove from List" for Track 25 [see previous post about "Clear Played from Playing Now"]. Now I am ready to resume playing the playlist that I started yesterday. So I select Track 26 and click either "Play" or "Play from here" and this is what happens; Track 26 plays, Track 26 plays again, then Track 28, 29, 30... play. Track 27 is never played it is just skipped over. Can this be looked into?

I use JRiver since v18 and at the moment most of the time in my cellar homecinema.
I tried with external DSP hard/software to improve the soundquality.
One of the things I cannot do with JRiver currently is to have more steep low- and highpass filters for the woofer and other channels.
In my high quality setup I can hear if the low frequency signal is coming from the front channel (e.g. car on the left with bass) or coming from my bass array (coming from everywhere in the front).
If I use external crossover and move to higher order (eg. 48 or better 96db/octave) I cannot hear the "wrong" directional informations from the bass array anymore - it sounds like coming out of the original channel.
So is it possible to get more than 24dB filters for multichannel sound in the room correction of the dsp?

Nice would be additional 48 and even 96dB/oct low- and highpass filters

This might be a weird question but, would it be possible to make an alphabet bar on the right side of the list view of all artists? Sort of like JRemote has and it being clickable. Would be super useful for large libraries.

At the top in Standard View, Where it says Artists (or any delineation) with a down arrow, click the down arrow.

Select Customize View.  In the pop-up box under settings, check-mark the box beside Display an alphabet.

I tried it and it doesn't work the way I had in mind, it jumps to the nearest first letter of a song, not first corresponding letter of an album artist that I wanted.

Please add support to read from mp3 files the ID2.3 the tag filed "TPE4". From FLAC files the "MIXARTIST" will be read perfect but there is no support for the MP3 Tag field "TPE4".

also, I found that with films with different aspect ratios, such as Nolan's, JRiver's cropping is better than madvr's.

Is there any chance of seeing this feature added in one of the next builds?

On Panel, using the back arrow to go back to the previous page now brings to the top of the page.  It would be nice to bring you back to the previous position.

Cover art for grouping.

In views, when we group by some field, displayed groups are shown as stacks of items inside that group.

Exceptions are Artist, Album, Serie, Season ... for which MC will look for cover art inside specific folder that matches field name (e.g. fot Series field, MC look for cover art in cover art folder inside "Series" subfolder)

Is it possoble to extend this behavior to all fields? For example if i have custom field "Box Set" ... then in the View, i group things by "Box Set" ... MC will:

1. Look for cover art inside "Box Set" folder (located in designated Cover Art folder) ... and use that image for grouping
2. If that folder does not exist ... or specific item does not have cover art in that folder ... then MC revert to default behaviour of showing stack items

This will give so much custmomization possibilities. At the moment ppl who wants this behavior ... have to tag things around fields that support this behaviour (Artist, Album, Series, Season)

I recall a thread where "Artist" field was used for game console type ... in order to have cover art specific for that console (PS2, XBOX, etc) ... while it works, it feels more like patch work rather than true organization of your files by proper tags.

Additionally ... the limit of nested group in this fashion is limited to 2 ... Artist/Album or Series/Season

Overlay images;
Artist/Composer images in tag window;
Remove the text info bellow the images in tag window if is an audio/video file and keep it for images. (The information is already there if you hoover the mouse)

MC in Client mode to download and show <img src> images from the server when needed. If images are inside tooltip folder then the folder structure will also match on both server and client. Currently you need to all the time manually sync images from the server to the client PC

I am another one that would greatly appreciate an improved convolver. I am trying to again get jriver playing via WDM and OpenLive through convolved filters for my active speakers. I also get frequent glitches that also cause the video to lose lipsync.

So I would also like to see partitions implemented in the convolver to reduce latency.

More importantly would be to stop the glitches and long buffers needed when playing from the WDM driver and openlive.
