« on: August 17, 2020, 06:41:37 am »

hello,
i have problem with MC for few years now... it happen often that MC crash during playback.
It happen even though there is no other activity on my windows comp but only music playing...
I had that problem also with older versions of jriver MC (24 and 25). i had that problem from time to time...
but after yesterday's update MC crush on every song ?! I have full master licence and running windows 10 with all updates.
Error message is "Media center is not responding" from windows, in MC i can click some options but no music playing...
sometimes i can change song on my playlist but no music is coming out.

So on my i7 laptop witch is used only for music i have constant crush....

Any help is appreciated because after 4 years of using jriver i am on the way to make uninstall no meter i paid many licences...

Are you using any Antivirus?

If you using Windows Defender read this https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114101.0.html

ok, i tried to exclude folders with MC26 and library from defender and it still crashes. ok not on almost every song like before. but still very annoying ....
Also turned off defender real time protection and one another option but it crashed. and it is not that crash when i try to combine some play list but one album playing only.

Did you add MC executables to exclusion list like that guide instructed.

ok , so just a small update.
with defender turned off MC didn't crash today for ca. 2 hours.
But it crashed when screensaver was turned after 2 hours, and once after playlist was finished.
So for me to be honest this last update is step backward- i get only problems.
furthermore when i think about MC25 and MC26 with last update i am sorry i bought MC26.

thanks for help

Your Windows Defender configuration is probably still not right.

You can't turn Windows Defender off.  It will come back.  You must configure it.  Please read the thread.    It's on this board.

i made reboot as it was written. so this time all files from list and complete procedure. and after 45minutes crash.

What audio output are you using?  Try Direct Sound.

well,
i am using recommended settings for my DAC (ayre codex) and that is TUSBAudio Audio Driver [ASIO].
And i had installed ayre driver for that...
So using some standard output will lead to degradation of sound... it is like telling me to listen on my laptop soundcard.
What i would like to know and get answer from you is: what change in last update can cause such issues with stability ?
without updated i had one crush in 10 days of listening.. now i have 10 crushes per day ... same comp ... same settings...
now you tell me to go and change almost every option and settings...

TRY Direct Sound.  It could be a problem with ASIO.  Uninstall the ASIO driver.

Try MC 32 bit.

All just to test.

two days i am trying all your ideas and changing all options and no solution.
and almost all was fine until last update.
now you say that i should try different output and uninstall recommended driver ,and also try 32bit version ?

64bits worked for me ok few years why should i downgrade ?

i don't have so much time to try all your ideas.
i bought your product -master licence for MC24, MC25 and MC26, and i didn't use freeware in order to avoid problems and enjoy in music.
now i should be beta tester for jriver. why don't you implement crash log and normal customer support.
most of your customers are using jriver for hi-fi, and we don't need lot's of mambo-jambo options.
what we need is core program but to work fluently. you remind me on winamp and nero with your program.
soon it will be possible to do anything with it but no core function will work ok.
that is IMHO,
regards.

Strangely enough I have been using MC26 without any such problems which might indicate that there is something on your setup which is interfering with MC's normal function - but what that could be is anyone's guess. You might try uninstalling MC26 and then reinstalling it.

i understand your point. but i only using laptop for music. only update windows and jriver. no additional software. except drivers off course. i don't have outlook or office...
and all work more or less ok until last udate. after that mess.

Because it seems to be not working with your driver.  Those tests would just take a few minutes.

Just reinstal the version of MC26 which worked for you before the last update. By the way you haven't said which version of MC26 you are using at the moment.

Well first try updating to the latest version of mc which is 106 found at the top of this page. If that doesn't help then reinstall the version of mc which did work for you.

If you're unwilling to try what I suggested, I will lock this thread.

The Direct Sound test would take you just a minute.  It would tell us that the ASIO driver is likely to be the cause.  The 32 bit version might work with that driver.

That suggests that the problem is with the ASIO driver.  You could also try WASAPI.  It will probably work.

If you want to use ASIO, the 32 bit version of MC might work with it.  The driver is probably 32 bit.

You're getting somewhere now.

The USB driver on the Ayre website (4.67) certainly looks like it is 64 bit. Several folder names and files have 64 in their name.  If that is the driver you are using, it is probably 64 bit.

I believe you have a driver problem.  Try uninstalling it, rebooting and using Direct Sound.  If that works, try WASAPI.   If those don't work, you may have other hardware problems.

If MC says the device doesn't work at 44.1 Khz, then try using DSP Studio > Output Settings to resample to 48 Khz.  Just to test.
