How Licensing Works
« on: May 06, 2021, 08:29:35 am »

Please make sure you:

1.  Download and install MC.

2.  Restore your license.  The version of the license must match the version of MC that you have installed.

Please read this:
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License

Any license should also work with the latest builds of the previous version.  For example, an MC30 license will also work with MC29.0.86 or higher.

Still have questions?

One license will work with all "your" computers, within reason.

Hello, I restored today my master license under windows for vers. 24 and bought I upgrade to vers. 30. I got only a single linux license. Why? I need a master license. Is it possible to change this?
Best regards

I have a previous version of JRiver for Windows, and I want to get a master licence and upgrade to MC30 at the same time - what's the best way to go about doing that, please?

Just installed the latest minor version of MC30. It consumed one of my annual installs. Is this correct?

Only if you needed/requested license file. If you have already registered MC30 you can freely install any new MC30 version without consuming your license install count.

If you e.g. re-install windows or change system time etc and then install MC again then you would need new license file

Sorry, I didn't know where else to post this. Is it possible to get a trial extension? I installed over a month ago and the current version then had a problem with my nuc - I couldn't bit stream audio. I was told on the forums that the next version would fix my problem but now my trial has expired.

Thank You.

Installing a minor version doesn't require re-licensing and won't use a restore.

I agree that should not be the case, but for some reason, after installing the update, I was prompted to "buy" or "restore" the license. Since I already have a license code, I entered it and then received a message confirming it was activated. Subsequently, however, I received an email saying that one of my annual installs had been burned.
The question now is: how do I recover that burned install?

Re-read the email.  It's not the install that matters.  Read the links.

Good day,
I have a registration code for MC version 19 and wanted to upgrade to version 30, but when I enter the registration code in the field on the upgrade page, an error message appears.

A newer version is available on the download page.

Please download and install this version:  https://jriver.com/download.html

I assume you're using Windows.

Do you expect to ever use Windows again? If not, you can upgrade to a Mac license for MC31. However, if you think you may use Windows again it may be worth upgrading to a master license that covers all three OSes (Windows, Mac and Linux) instead.

So if I understood correctly, I buy master for 30$ and then use recover code for licence

Thanks

Read about licensing to see how you can extend your restores.

Use the Install Key for a second machine in the first 14 days.

Use the trial period before licensing.

I don't seem to be able to restore my license for some reason. I have been using MC for over ten years and I never had a problem with licenses. Not sure what I am missing. I had removed earlier versions of MC a while back.  I don't know if that caused the problem.  I am currently using the latest version of MC 29.

Please read the first post carefully.  The version must match what you have installed.

I apologize if I'm not posting this in the correct area, but I have run out of restores. (was unaware there was a limit, have since read up on how the licensing works) Would it be possible to reset the license restore count on my account? Sorry again if this post is out of place.

Please try again.

You can use the 30 day trial period and the Install Key to extend your restores.

I have a question:
I got a Linux license a few days ago and installed, but my Linux laptop died and I wanted to move to a multiplatform license and finish my project (media player) on Windows. Is there a way to upgrade or I have to buy a separate Windows license, or a full license again?
Thanks!

Upgrade to a master license.

https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,135680.0.html

I tried this path, but both Master and Windows links give me invalid license error, and Linux states that I already have one (I guess that validates the key).

Thank you!

Due to computer problems, my license was reinstated too many times. Is it possible to reset the counter? It's 0 now.

Is there any discounted price available for old Mac 15?
My license code consists of five sets of alpha numeric codes + a reference number.
I currently have JR 29 for Win, and bought master license in past.

Is your old Mac able to run macOS 10.13 High Sierra or newer? If it can't, neither MC32 nor MC33 will run on it.
