Audiolab Streamer / Amp
« on: November 01, 2021, 07:01:21 am »

Hi, sorry about this, but I'm not even sure what terms I would use for a search.

I have an old version of MC (v19) that I haven't used for a long while. I am considering getting something like an Audiolab streamer/amp to put into my network via a wired ethernet connection (for my den/mancave). Am I correct in thinking that I can use the MediaCenter as my music player on my PC to stream to the Audiolab? No problem buying an upgrade if needed for MediaCenter.

More than happy to 'RTFM', just need to know what FM to look for <grin>.

Any advice gratefully received

This one?

It says it's DLNA and UPnP compliant, so it should work.  The manufacturer might know more.  Or try a Google search for Audiolab and JRiver.

Here's how to upgrade JRiver:  https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129290.0.html

Thanks Jim, that's what I was hoping to hear. Still not 100% decided on the actual streamer/amp to get but now I know what to look for - DLNA and UPnP. I've always been a wired network kinda person, so all the Bluetooth/Wi-fi stuff just goes right past me. My main audio system has a EMU-1616 setup for digital replay, so I can use any Windows based player with that. I remember being impressed with JRiver so maybe it's time for me to upgrade.

cheers
