I was about to DL version 11 to try it out myself today are you saying I'm now not able to do so without paying? Guess  I waited too long.

I have a question about this as well...

Quote
it will require a license.

then

We strongly recommend that you wait to purchase until final release

Will we or won't we be able to continue testing without a license?  I was planning on buying it anyway, but I wanted to wait until it's a little more polished.

I've never heard of a company asking you purchase an alpha build so you can test their software for them. Usually Beta testers are accepting DL this at a risk, becasue the companny cannot support an alpha, and the user accepts that risk to get access to the latest features, in return the company gets to iron out issues before a general release.

I run the 'alpha 11' quite a long time now. Whithout any mayor problem. And I'm not an 'easy' customer (just ask JimH.). So there are two possibilitys:

JRiver could name it a 'Beta' or
you'll go without any risk:

* Final Release in about 5 to 7 months.  We strongly recommend that you wait to purchase until final release, but if you can't help yourself, we understand.

IMHO you have to wait to avoid unwanted risk.

Sounds cool,

I'll just pay the $10... No biggy considering what the software does.

Now I was wondering if I could find a list of all the "main" improvements/changes that 11 brings. I know that someone keeps a list of all the changes for each build, but that's a bit too overwhelming IMO. Also, such a list would represent "incentives" for people to upgrae to the new version... Just a thought.

Hi Jim;

Why do you strongly recommend waiting to purchase until final release ?

Hi Jim;

Why do you strongly recommend waiting to purchase until final release ?
Because in the past, people have sometimes bought too soon and then complained when something didn't work.

I think MC11 is working just fine

look at the latest alpha thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23310

there's a summary of improvements below the detailed section...

IMVHO (Doc eat your heat out!) - call it beta, ive found it as stable as v10 and it may stop some people complaianing (but then it will probably cause others to start!)

Hi,

Will the license work for v10 until the final release of v11 too?

Just in the case something I need (like party mode) doesn't work

I'd like to know that, too.  I don't mind my home system on V11 coming unstuck for a while, but I don't want to upgrade my work PC yet.

Hi,

I'm answering this by myself, because a little bit of math gives this result ;):

Buying a v10 license for 24,98$ and an upgrade from v10 to v11 for 10$ is not so far away from the 35$ for a new v11 license.

A special offer including licens for the Deskbar and an upgrade for MC11 would be super awesome :)
What about upgrade for MC and licens for Deskbar - $15. You earn 2 cents and we only have to do one transaction. It would be better for all of us.

Please consider it.

Thanks,

Happy to pay $10 - but not till the Ipod reworking that Steve G is carrying out makes it into a release.

Too much at stake there for an Alpha!

Being still on version 9.2 (I never got around to upgrading even though I use MC almost every day), I'm also interested in if a version 11 license works on version 10. Like I may want the new features of ten on one computer (like at work), but I'd have the time for bug reports and testing on another computer (at home).

Ok, if your version has timed out, how do you buy the license?
Because the website only talks about MC10 still.

Where did you go to buy the license? (please post url)
Thanks

If you talk about 11.0.70 you cannot buy it. Install 11.0.72 (or newer). Then you can.

I wonder if the timed out version tells users to download a new version of the software?

if not it should, but of course a user should know if it times out they should upgrade to the latest, at least i would think a user should know.

If I purchase the upgrade lic for 11 can I still use 10?  Because I would still like to use 10 with my ipod until further into the 11 testing.

Thanks

I thought you were asking if an MC11 license worked with MC10, and the answer to that is no.

see, if you don't reboot after installing 11.0.72, it will give you the same generic "expired" message, with no option to buy.

that was it.

I've still got concerns about using V10 and V11. At home I use V11 - if it has problems I can live with it.  At work I use use V10 to organise myself - V11 is going to be better but I can't take the risk of upgrading yet.

If I buy the V10 to 11 upgrade can I continue to update the V10 system and, when I get a new work pc, can I install V10 on it?

Okay, but, will it make me taller?  I'm nearly 5' 9", and I'd really like to be 6'+  I've considered getting a full body tattoo that looks just like me only taller, but I think it would cost too much.  This seems much cheaper.
