For some basic editing, MC has a Media Editor under Tools.  I used this to clip a song to use for a photo slideshow (MS Photostory 3).

Can anyone confirm if this feature made it into MC12?

Please wait until MC 12 is public.  We're not talking about it now.

No problem.  I was not looking for an official answer in this case.

I'm just trying to come up with an easier way to convert my LPs to digital.  Currently I go from the turntable to a CD recorder.  I then RIP the CD using MC to create MP3 files.

I have to manually do the increment of tracks (so I have to monitor the copy to CD).  It would be easier to just record to CD without worring about tracks and split them later.

I'll put this project on hold until MC12 goes public.

  • Absence of alternatives clears the mind nicely.

I'm sure that if JRiver implements the feature it will be great, in the meantime, you can use mpgtx for splitting MP3s.

mpgtx is an open source mpg command line utility that does a bunch of useful things, though I just use it to quickly split a long MP3 into chunks for CD burning:

Command line:
mpgtx.exe -(seconds) \path\yourmp3file.mp3 -b split

Example:
mpgtx.exe -300 c:\mp3\beatles\1\paperbackwriter.mp3 -b split

I've used it for years and I've never had a problem with it. mpgtx.sourceforge.net
