If you wish support for Nero they are located at http://www.nero.com

i don't understand why you would want to put a mp3pro encoder into nero and what this would have to do with MJ\MC

OK... the whole story.
Changed from Mac to PC and miss iTunes... hence change to MJ
Previous Jukebox was MusicMatch which includes an mp3Pro codec which if you encode with 96kbps gives extremely good quality to size ratios which minimize the space taken up on my drives. Nero also offers an mp3pro encoder and as the external encoder plugin's description says "This plug-in can use any external command line encoder" I thought that it would be possible to utilise it within the MJ interface. OK I could do it separately, but that's not really the point in an all in one app.
Maybe it's possible to use the WinAmp plug-in...?

did you try the external encoder option?

it is a bit harder to find it now that they moved it in MC9

to get there you need to select a file, select Rip.

a box will come up and if you click on the options button you can then select the encoder, it has one for a external encoder.

you will need to know the command line to enter.

In MJ8 it should be under setup uptions i think if i remember correctly.

Encoding options were moved back where they belong.  See Tools/Options/Encoding.

would have got back earlier, but I went bowling...
thanks for the replies, but...
what I need to know is not where the encoding options are.. but what I type in the external encoder boxes - it asks for the exe path & parameters.. at the mo, the exe path is set and the parameters are %IN\F:\, %OUT\E:\mp3's,
but I'm not sure if these are correct or if it's going to work anyway because Nero does more than just rip CD's (does this mean it's not a command line app?)
Apologies for possibly stupid questions and thanks to those who can educate me.

since that is from Nero, can't you find that info in there help file or on there web site?

it may be hard for J River to tell you how to run or input commands for there program.

I wonder if anyone else has attempted to do this, if so it would be nice for them to speakup.

At Nero all I could find out was that the mp3pro plug-in is not a stand-alone product, which I guess says everything. After I figured out that in the parameter box all you need to type is %IN %OUT (it then takes the default file locations from MJ) MJ opens Nero but you then get a message saying unsupported file format so you then have to encode separately anyway... Just means you have to import the encoded files into MJ manually which isn't really a big prob, but, if anyone develops an mp3pro plug-in or similar, please leave a message. Thanks.
