Sometimes when I open the program, the option to rename or delete files is greyed out and cannot be selected.  Could an option setting cause this?  Please provide any help.

My NAS appears in Windows Credentials.
Also accessible from explorer and MC Import.

Some folder are loaded with covers. Most doesn't. Weird.
It does load covers from the pc or external hardisk.

The NAS was shut down for a few weeeks. It all started when connected again.

Area #1 is found under Tools > Options > Theater View > Items to show. Note that some items cannot be moved or removed as they are "baked in".

At first I couldn't see anything called "Items to show" under Theatre View (and entering that text in the search bar at the bottom of the Options screen produced no results). I had been expecting it to appear in the normal options-related upper section of the screen, but eventually my eyes were drawn to the lower section where I found the "Items to show" heading. However, that section appears to control the menu structure of Theatre View rather than Area #1.

I then realised that I could control what text appears in Area #1 using Customize file info panel... and editing the Movie entry (I'd previously experimented with editing the Video entry, which generated no visible results). How to alter the font size still eludes me, as all the font options are hard coded as 12 point.

Areas #2 and #3 are highly customizable, see:

I'd already found that thread but I don't know what to look for. What are the correct names for Areas #2 and #3?

in the process ....cliked  on an artist...there's 2 albums...clik on the album expecting to see the list of songs,  and there is info  at the very bottom of the screen...
but I can Not  open it further to see all of it ?!?

That started happening to me around 1.5 years ago.  There is a thread on the beta board regarding these corrupted tabs.  Bizarre timing for your post though, as I just posted on that thread yesterday how I had not seen it occur for a couple of months now and assumed it had been fixed. And now it pops up for you.  Unfortunately, the corruption occurs entirely at random with no known cause.

The good news is that it happens infrequently - maybe once every twenty or so starts in my case. It is also super easy to fix by reloading your tabs via View/Load-Save View. Note: the menu option name is misleading (wrong really) - you're not loading/saving a View, but loading/saving a Tab layout.  If you don't have a tab layout already saved, still no problem. If you restart MC your tabs will return to normal. Once you organize your tabs the way you want, then return the same menu and save the tab layout. If it happens again, just reload the saved layout… No MC restart required.

What version of macOS are you using?

Sonoma 14.5.

And again, just to be sure, I have just tested MC 28.0.110 and it works just fine.

:o   new guy...old, and  mildly tech efficient ...just downloaded the trial to my Mac...went pretty smooth,  however,  as I have been using iTunes for years and that format  stopped giving my iPods/nanos, etc  complete access ...purchased an A&K SR 35...did copy music to an SD card, got it onto the player, but it displays my music erratically (for me) and suggestions from more than 1 source suggested JRiver...so  here I am ...
I'd intended to make playlists, similar to what I had previously...get it sorted , then   re-copy, from MC  to the card again and hopefully have more control of files on the player....   that is my Whole plan...I do Not need  everything that's offered , just playback on the device...either "shuffle" the library  or go to the "album"  I want to hear...very Basic! of course  add new music  as it comes to me, home recordings , CD's  whatever ....
made a playlist " A " ..began dragging a few artists  A 's  into it...and  thinking it would show the "album" but instead, just a listing of trax...  so, I have 5 -10 artists  A's, I'd put there some..ie; Allman Bros , Aerosmith  have their own playlist ...is there a way to view them, within the playlist, as  the particular album  I want to get to ?  this would also help  for when I copy to the SD card , go to the device, choose a playlist  and  get right to the desired album / artist etc.
as easy as it was to get downloaded, I'm sure there are steps to fine tune it...just not so instinctive for me ....   while asking this, will also ask,
converting files ?!? told, previously Flac  will work better w/ the SR 35...so, that step too  ::)    thanx all !
