Hallo,

using Linux Mint. So, is there possibilities to push the performance of MC? It is really very slow.

In general, I can describe that every dialog that is called up or clicked on is extremely slow. If I want to search for something, I type a letter and then it takes 30 seconds until something happens and I can type the next letter. The same goes for the tag editor. You can't really work or use the software like this.

I am grateful for any tips.
Jochen

What do you mean with 'Is the system automounting the CD?'?
Rhythmbox is starting automatically and shows the titels like in the screenshot above.

How are the other two monitors connected? HDMI or display port or vga? Are they on the same RTX gpu? or on motherboard? or on another gpu card?

Sadly, Windows likes to change, or reorder, the default display (audio device) whenever it detects one of them going inactive. So unfortunately you might need an edid emulator on every monitor, or at least on the ones that you want to let sleep/power off.

The workstation's two monitors are both connected via DisplayPort outputs on the same RTX 3070 GPU as I'm using for the HDMI connection to my AV amp. That's the only GPU on this machine.

Make sure the right split is "active" by clicking in its main content area. Then select a view from the tree on left, which will create a new tab for the selected tree item in the right (active) view.

To demonstrate both sides playing simultaneously, I have my music library playing on the left, and the TV Show Dead Ringers on the right.  You can tell which view is active/inactive by the color of the tab bar (the inactive tab bar is typically a "washed out" background color, but that appearance varies and depends on the particular skin being used).

In the attached picture, you can see I have a bunch of podcast tabs (which are also locked) - the TV show is in the "new" and unlocked tab (my lock symbol is just a dot).  Podcasts is what I personally use for the right-hand split.

Hope that helps.

JRVR cannot communicate with your TV. The TV is somehow deciding to do this on its own.

Something is not as it should be. I now try to get sdr to work first bc it used to be ok. Now when I am playing a movie jriver also change the Lg oled tvs picture mode from filmmaker mode to expert dark mode. Is this a new feature or are something messed up?

I've seen that this problem has been reported several times going as far back as 2013. Subsequent versions of MC haven't fully addressed it, so I thought it would be helpful to anyone experiencing this issue to know the appropriate solution for Windows PCs. (This may also work on Mac, if Mac has an equivalent setting).

The problem is in Windows' own internal DPI scaling. In my case, I have 3 monitors. Monitor 1 and 2 (primary and secondary) are set to 125% scale at 4k. Monitor 3 is set to 100% at 1080p. I run MC on Monitor 3.

It seems MC is ignoring the 100% dpi setting on Monitor 3, and instead scaling based on Windows' 125% setting for the others.

Good news - this effect can be disabled.

Right-Click your MC shortcut and choose "properties"
Click the "compatibility" tab
Click "change high dpi settings" (a new dialog will open)
Put a checkmark in the bottom checkbox in the "high dpi scaling override" section.
Click the pulldown just below it, and choose "application"
Click OK to close the pop up dialog, then "apply" to close the original.
Finally if MC is running, close it
Now run MC.

When it opens, no more blurry text. Your fonts will be shown slightly larger than normal (scaling up to the setting for the primary monitor), but this can easily corrected by reducing their size in MC's fonts setting. Mine were originally set to Calibri 11, and scaled down nicely to Calibri 9.

Hope this helps someone!

Best,

Marc

I have an event that uses a Media Center playlist and an Amazon Music Unlimited playlist. It requires changing back and forth between the two sources. I have just switched between the two tabs in the past but thought split screen would be a bit handier. I have tried to use View/Split Screen/Show 2 Views but all I can get on the second (right hand) view is the Media Center Start screen. I have not been able to get both my playlist (or Playing Now) and Amazon Music up at the same time. If this is possible I would really appreciate if someone can take me through the steps.
