so...on it goes ...realizing, after I posted this ...my ext HD   WD My Passport for Mac      though it has All my music...it has it all via the Mac...
if my searches are correct ..if I read them correctly.... I lose all that data ?  to reformat  so as to be able to use it  on both the Mac  and laptop ?
or   is there another option ...  ::) :o ::)

Unfortunately Windows will not be able to read the WD My Passport for Mac. The only other option is to acquire another external disk, formatted as ex-fat, and copy the files from the WD My Passport for Mac to that new disk.

Crashes are usually caused by either antivirus or drivers.  The Weird Problems thread here has a list of them.

Hello,
I post seldom because MC is pretty useable. Today after upgrading to MC32 a few weeks ago I tried to go into Theater View and MC32.49 crashed. I tried a few more times and restarted windows 11 with the same result. Any suggestions?

BTW 64bit version.

Thanks

Some CDs are going to be problematic to rip. Either because of scratches or other reasons.

When I have a CD that won't rip properly I try ripping using a different CD drive. Sometimes the other drive will be able to rip the CD. If that doesn't work then I try a different CD ripping program, like EAC. EAC uses a different secure ripping algorithm and can sometimes rip a CD that another ripping program gets stuck on. And vice versa. Sometimes another ripping program will rip a CD that EAC gets stuck on.

My strategy is to have at least two different ripping drives from different manufacturers that are known to be reliable ripping drives. Different drives with different manufacturers and firmware will read through errors and problems differently. Then try different ripping programs if that doesn't work.

I've ripped a couple thousand CDs. And that's the strategy that I've found to work.

yes...sort of

all my music was in iTunes ...for years  windows  then  2 years ago, got a Mac  and so  ,  that
since my iPods (Nanos and classics)  were fidgety w/ "Apple Music"  my  "iTunes"   which for the past 3 + years has primarily been iTunes Store  purchases
but friends still share some older CD's too and all my "older" music, digitalized way back when..so a fish mosh

as Synching my players worsened, began looking for an alternative player..settling on the A&K a few weeks back...support from that store, got me to where I was able to copy my entire library to an SD card, for use in the A&K ...however, the way the device read those files made it very difficult for me to get to the music, how I wanted to..primarily "shuffle" the entire library at any given time,  otherwise I'd play any chosen album at any given time...that is All I am trying to do! no streams or video  or anything else!
just plug in, to my sound system , and play ...the same support suggested, as did others, to get JRiver  and use that in lieu of iTunes, to convert to Flac, which I was told the A&K would then recognize "better" and improve my playback
so , I do not exactly know, specifically,  "locations" ...music was always, to me, in  iTunes ...that was the location ...
once starting JRiver, it was over in a blur...all the music  right there... I thought  great, pretty simple...so now just convert...which I began to do...got thru almost 3500 songs  and the Mac told me  I'm "running out of disk space" and  so, I figure   o k   I have the file format I was told would solve issues, just delete the previous format... I was also told  after converting, iTunes would now recognize the new format too.... checked, and that was Not the case    so ?!?!?
to be sure  I only deleted 1 or 2 songs, went back to iTunes ..found those songs deleted and though they were listed where they had been...could Not play back..."can not find the original file location" or words to that effect...
if not obvious,  I freely admit, I am in over my head w/ all of it....  my needs are so simple, relative to what I read w/in the forums, google searches  etc

at least I have been backing everything up on an ext HD...and before the purchase of the A&K, figured  o k  I'll have a laptop (windows) dedicated solely to my music
load the iPods  replacements from ?whatever?  from the ext HD.....  around then  recommendations to get JRiver came into play...so here I am

I'd like to just remove it,  MC32, from the Mac...leave iTunes/Apple Music as it was..... put MC32 on the laptop and load it up from the ext HD  and synch the A&K / SD card there
that seems to me, to be the easiest way (for Me) to get it all sorted out...I'm sure more proficient individuals can do better...obviously..that  isn't me  :-\

As popular as the Hapi DAC has become among home theater enthusiasts
https://www.stereophile.com/content/merging-hapi-mkii-multichannel-digital-processor
, I was told by Merging that they have no plans to issue any kind of firmware/USB connected IR box to provide this simple functionality.

These ASR members did their best to assist in my quest  https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/how-to-predict-required-mch-dac-output-voltage.54805/#post-1990691 , though I doubt that I’d be content being tethered to Kal Rubinson’s wired remote. Thus, he hinted that I seek wireless solutions here.

As JRiver will be my most often used player, are there any handheld wireless remote models more ergonomic and less clunky overall than a smartphone for simple master volume/mute control of the Hapi?

To be clear, if you either don't change refresh rate, or HDR is already enabled beforehand, it 100% works for you?

I have been looking into enabling HDR earlier if the video is actually flagged HDR in the Media Center library (because that would be before we even open the file to check, Library is all we got), to avoid some issues with breaking HDMI audio streams for some people. Maybe doing HDR before refresh rate would help. Or in fact sort of "at the same time" (although not really, Windows display mode changes are stupid and don't let you combine settings).

I paused my movie for a brief moment just to try it cause I really wanted to know.  The Crow folder backup I did yesterday:

EOTF 2: SMPTE ST 2084 [PQ], MT: DCI-P3 [WO], WP: D65
GRN: 34000, 16000 [0.68, 0.32]
BLU: 13250, 34500 [0.265, 0.69]
RED: 7500, 3000 [0.15, 0.06]
WP: 15635, 16450, [0.3127, 0.329]
Max/Min Lum: 842 / 0.005 nits
MaxCLL/FALL: 300 / 0 nits

That's on the menu.  It's working perfectly for me in all scenarios.

Thanks. No idea why it doesn’t help here.
