I already looked that page over many times. I've been using MC since 22 and never had these problems before.
I just got your email with the new .mjr file and now I get "could not restore license with the file". I also tried for hours back in august when I first purchased this MC27 license and had no luck then either. I have not yet been able to get a single MC27 registered  on Linux, Mac or Windows since the purchase in August. I had tried turning the firewall off and it made no difference.. I've probably got 10 plus hours invested in trying to make this work in all the times I've tried since purchase. Its really frustrating   to say the least.

Another clue - I tried using the "Extend Trail Period" option and it doesn't like my email address and asks me to check it. Its the correct email address for my account. I also uninstalled it again and manually deleted all the leftover config stuff and reinstalled it yet again.  I'm not using a VPN and turning off the firewall didn't help. MC26 still working fine and has no trouble connecting to my remote NAS.

I used your license to restore on my computer and it worked, so I know the license is good.

So the possibilities are

1.  You're not using the right Registration Code to Restore.  Read this:  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License  The Install Key is only good for 14 days.

2.  You don't have MC27 installed.

3.  Something on your network is causing it to fail.  Security software can do that.

Please tell us, step by step, what you've done.  The more details the better.

I downloaded update 50 from your site today and used alien to convert it to (mediacenter27-27.0.50-2.x86_64.rpm). Previously I used update 24. The code came from you and the one I got today was the same code that was on the original email from 8/4/20 that was labeled "JRiver, Inc. Media Center 27 Master" so its the right code and version. No security software of any kind.
I tried downloading the latest Mac version and installed it on a very fresh install of Catalina 10.15.7 and it would not register either.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled both many multiple times.  I am still using the same ASUS RT-AC68u router and Comcast cable internet as when I installed MC26 and updated it many times as the updates came out with no problems. I am having no network problems at all and all my other software that needs access works fine. I have disabled the firewall on both the router and OS's and no change.  This is very frustrating especially since I was a computer engineer for more than 30 years (hardware mostly) and this shouldn't be this hard..

Update: On the Mac the new .mjr file says it was successful when you double click on it but MC27 gives the same error that it had trouble communicating with the registration server.

Haven't emailed you ever. The problem still exists and I've always cut and pasted the code. See my post prior to yours. It appears this Master License is going to be useless to me if this is the way you are going to handle this problem by deeming it solved when it is not. I have not as yet been successful on registering a single copy of MC27 !

So far so good.

No security software of any kind.
If you're using Win10, you're running Windows Defender.

That suggests that something is blocking access to our license server.

Two of our digital certificates changed about ten days ago and we saw a few problems after that for a couple of days.  It's possible that you're seeing that and that your certificate cache needs to be updated.

It's an app on Linux that will convert a .deb file used for Debian, Ubuntu, etc. to .rpm which is used in Fedora, Red Hat, etc. If going that route I'd recommend looking at BryanC's installJRMC script.

You probably have to do the symlink the certificate that Bob has mentioned in the past to get it to work. Try this in a terminal...

Code: [Select]
cd /etc/ssl/certs
Then...

Code: [Select]
sudo ln -s /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem ca-certificates.crt
And see if that works for you. :)

Here is what I get trying to update the certs:
sudo ln -s /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem ca-certificates.crt
ln: failed to create symbolic link 'ca-certificates.crt': File exists

I've only been dealing with Opensuse Tumbleweed Linux and MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 on this go of it. I did try installing it on Windows early on when MC27 was first released but had the same problem and haven't messed with Windows since.  The windows machine is low priority as it was only being used as a music server and I now use an NAS so its kind of a doorstop for now.
I only use Mediacenter for audio. I will be putting together a headless Rasberry Pi4 soon so I can control MC with a tablet.
Update: I installed a brand new copy of Opensuse TW on an old intel based PC and had the same problem. I then set up my other router as a bridge and a free VPN and now both the new TW install and MacOS MC27 installs work! The machine I am on typing this is my older (but current updates) install of Openuse TW and its not on the bridge/VPN and it still doesn't work. So maybe the reg server doesn't like my IP?
Other things to note. The Linux MC install that doesn't work is AMD64 based and I used the AMD64 version of MC on it just like MC22,24 and 26 that all worked fine.
The fresh Linux install is the same TW version but its on an Intel based pc so I used the i386 version.
And yes alien is used to convert .deb packages to .rpm packages which Openuse and other use instead of .deb.

Easiest to just use the debian cert included with MC.
sudo rm -f /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 27/ca-certificates.crt
ln -s /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 27/local-ca-certificates.crt /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 27/ca-certificates.crt

My registered copy of MC27 suddenly started telling me that my trial has ended for the second time, and I had to use another restore. It registers just fine, but seems to randomly forget it's registration code. Or maybe it takes my full reg code as another trial?

Edit: This time it was probably because I changed the name of my pc in settings?

Good afternoon Jim
I bought Media Centre and has crashed, so followed instructions to uninstall/reinstall, but must have been under a different email address of [edit], which is now discontinued. Can I retrieve my license code please? My email now is [edit].
Many thanks

Hi,

It looks like the mac address always change when I reboot my MC container. I burned all my 20 licenses. Is it possible to reset the count?

'You have just restored a license for JRiver Media Center. There are 20 restores available in each 12 month period.  There are 0 restores remaining at this time.'

Thank you

The mac address shouldn't change.  But your license restores have been reset.  You can extend your restores by using the full 30 day trial period and by using the Install Key.  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License

I assume this is linux, turn off Mac address randomization for the container.

In 2018, I bought a license for Windows version 25. That version never worked properly for me. Every couple of months app asked me to re-register even though I was on the same computer the whole time and nothing is changed.

The music was interrupted every about 15-20 seconds and the database was falling apart. I changed the computer (bought Intel NUC), changed the NAS to QNAP, reinstalled everything, rebuilt the whole database and everything was the same again. Then I stopped listening to digital music for some time.

After I got the ad in the mail for new version 27 I decided to try the free trial. With version 27 everything works and it really works great, but today I had to buy a license for version 27 again. I don't think that's fair since version 25 was obviously faulty.

Do you have some discount for us who switched to 27 for the reason that 25 did not work?

Kind regards

Hello, I have lost the license for version 27, although I once paid for an upgrade, when trying to restore the license, I am given a key only for version 26, and it does not fit to 27.

I removed the attachment.  It's not our receipt.

I found your license for MC27, and changed the email address to the one you used for the other licenses.  Same as your forum address.  You had used a different address (knac.....)

I resent your licenses.

Purchased MC27 about 6 weeks ago. Installed license everything fine.  Recently got an update that would not automatically install on either of my windows 10 computers.  After installing, I was told my trial period had expired and I had to restore license.  so I used 2 more of my annual 10 licenses to install an update.

I am still using MC25, works just fine for me.
I recently got a new tablet and put MC25 on it and when I go to register it tells me it can't find my license. It does this when I manually type in the reg code or if I double click on the .mjr file.
Did the server lose my license
