The last couple of builds have each downloaded the MS redistributable components. I can't believe that MS has changed them that often.

I Just installed it, it did not force me to install it again.

Matt\Jim one thing that can be added to the system Info is "Date" And "Time"

to make sure the users time date\clock is correct since this does effect some users when restoring etc...

do you have any spyware utilities runing that may block the install, and or registry keys?

if so maybe you can disable them and try again.

Well, I had MS Antispyware resident but I don't think MS would block MS. But, I shut it down, reinstalled MC (it again redownloaded), it reported a successful installation and then rebooted. After the reboot, I again reinstalled MC and it again redownloaded the WMF redistribution.

i wonder what the MC install looks for, to key it to install, something odd is going on with your system.

maybe there is something in "add and remove programs" and then try again.

I didn't see anything related to the WMF in add/remove. Oh well, I guess you can never have too many installs of the WMF Redistribution!

Look in your Application and System event logs for any System File Protection entries.

Long shot, but worth a try.

twas nothing a fresh install of the OS couldn't cure $:-\$

Works well now. Oh well, I was due for a new install. Luckily, I have an image file that gets me up and running quickly!

Glad you have found a solution.

I my opinion Windows Media installer should have handled it better. I still do not know why it refused to update WMVCore.DLL file in your case.
